    World cup in 4K.

BBC iPlayer to stream 4k HDR using the red button coming to first come first served, limited to tens of thousands with an internet connection of 40Mbit/s.

That'll be great eh, especially when over the years BBC red button iPlayer has been quite poor quality vid, showing mainly in sd, although they have showed a little more in HD recently!

Calling it fibre when it comes in on twisted pair of wires from a BT box. On my boundary I have the Vermin Fibre box and then about 30ft of coaxial cable in. I am on Vermin 150Mbits so shouldn't have any problems. Will I be watching I doubt it, can't stand Football.
I did miss Monaco 4K on my V6 box as I found out after the race. :(

Well as it's being streamed I'm not too bothered about it. Watching streams is like watching something that's delayed. They're always behind the live broadcast, sometimes as much as a minute. I'd rather watch something that's live by satellite or terrestrial. And apparently streamings the future.

And its on a first come first served basis ie 10, 000 max with a 40mb or better line. I'm sticking with HD and my KURO. Wait for the EUROS should be back down to normal HD in quality

4k would be fine over satellite. Streaming it for live events is pointless.

Watching TRT4K at 42E FTA coverage of Iceland v Argentina just using my 4K TV which has usals which is excellent.
Watched BBC iplayer UHD coverage of Eqypt v Uruguay which was OK but France v Australia wasn't great a lot of buffering and 3 dropouts (not down to my BT FTTC VDSL2+)

If anyone cant recieve bbc or itv in thier country due to 28.2 being out of thier footprint then you can look into 27.5w...hd is available too however it is encrypted via biss keys which are available and have not changed in a long time.

Streaming is out of sync and i hate it, i avoid it like the plague tbh, would rather listen to a live match on the radio than that crap, HD is also behind beieve it or not by a second or 2.

I agree with traveller too...bt and their old twisted pair, not only that some people will be suposedly recieving fibre through cables old navies installed in the 50,s.

The so called HD quality tonight on ITV Croatia v Nigeria was not as good as analogue 625 lines, soft weird colour cast and lacking focus and peak white flouresing, previous games were ok, UHD downscaling is wrecking tv pictures, if I paid for any digital fta or encrypted tv I would complain, but I don't !

So how EXACTLY did you manage to get BBC 4K on it's iPlayer mate - I subscribed to BBC through my large Sony UHD TV as advised, yet when I accessed it via my TV activated iPlayer all I got was a very basic 'HD' - as TonyO stated in barely 625 line quality! I was certainly NOT offered options for HD/UHD viewing as suggested elsewhere by Saint!
I've emailed BBC and (surprise surprise) got frankly nowhere from their negative responses about it being a purely 'experimental' process and therefore not to be relied upon!

Its accessed via the usual bbc iplayer beta version (Thanks digicon).
If your tv is on the list of tv's that have the required sw to view the tv picture will go to uhd with logo in the top right hand corner.
It will start sd-hd-uhd at it ascertains the tv limitations and sw and bb speed.
Just because you have a 4k tv does not mean you cant get bbc uhd.

I would just like to add to @manic01 links to the compatible TV's that some models are not listed i have 3 4K UHD Tv's here of varying sizes 2 are on the list a Samsung and an LG but my smaller LG which is not listed still gets the 4K UHD stream, so its worthwhile checking your Tv's iPlayer and putting it in Beta mode and try it before a games starts as you may be pleasantly surprised

Did you load the beta version of iplayer before trying? I am sure it will work if beta loaded.
I bet the M3 sd picture is shocking on a 75 inch tv lol
On the plus side it is an android tv.
On the negative lot of money for a tv unless you have a 4k sub of sorts like netflix etc.
