    RTL HD on Astra 19.2

I would like to view RTL HD on Astra 19.2. I know there are Cam/card (CI+ Cam slot required) packages available on the net.

My question is there any other ways to view this channel? I have a Bravia TV with a CI+ cam socket. In my box of old wonders I have a T-Rex and a Dragon Cam.

    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

    Forget it.
Picture Quality is NOT full HD and if you have a New Tv i don't think you will notice the difference.
Apart from the problem that you get tring to get it working.

RTL HD is full HD & you can get it with an HD+ card for 70 Euro for one year.

You only need the CAM if you do not have a receiver that can emulate one.

The German HD+ package is good value for money as you euroports 1 & 2 plus MTV all part of it

What cam or emu should you use?

CAn I ask what skin you are using on your box?

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will get an official card to watch the HD version. From what I have read on the net it seems the SD version has adverts during races.

Now for the next question. Do I get a CAM/card package or a card and receiver that will read the card. Does any one know if the forum sponsor sells a receiver that will emulate the required cam? A receiver would probably give more option for other packages.

    Thank you.

Thanks. I did however find this on the rtl website :
Sport and series fans beware! Football, Formula One and "Sankt Maik" in ultra-sharp picture quality will also be named for the year 2019. Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland is significantly expanding its high-definition content on the Ultra HD channel "RTL UHD" in the coming year. The exclusive satellite distribution partner will be HD + again next year. In addition, you can also receive RTL UHD in HD offer at Magenta TV Telekom.

In addition to broadcasting the qualifying sessions and Formula 1 races, in 2019 "RTL UHD" will broadcast for the first time all RTL-transmitting football internationals in UHD. In addition, spectators can look forward to some UEFA ****** League matches on RTL UHD. All football matches are produced and broadcast in UHD HDR.

Germans are working towards phasing out SD
Sky Germany switching off SD this year
All the regional TV going same way
Only in the UK are folk fooled into paying for 999 channels of VHS quality

I believe the CAM would be Nagravision 3 but OScam works with the card in a Vu+ 4K box.
    The skin is OpenSPA_Basic_Extra.

Absolutely agree & here we all are now being lured into rushing out to buy 4K tellies when HD has hardly been implemented unless you pay through the nose for it. Even then SD, of the poorest quality, still makes up the vast majority of channels on offer which look shyte on Flat Panel TV's. Especially the larger ones.

STY's SD isn't even VHS quality, it looks half that resolution, MY old JVC S-VHS looks way better than their HD pictures these days, you can see blades of grass rain snow, peoples faces in wide shots, its all there unlike HD which can't display this detail unless its right up close.

OK. So I purchased the cam/card combo. I can't see any reason why the HD will not work. Apparently the Samsung TV's with built in sat receivers will do the uhd.
I'll let you know what works on my Sony when the Cam arrives. fingers crossed.

    Don't panic!

A ruling by the Federal Cartel Office states that the two large commercial broadcast groups Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland and ProSiebenSat have to maintain their unencrypted SD satellite distribution until at least 2022.

Good news. It works. I have RTL UHD. You should see the picture on the UHD test channel it shows several different formats. The UHD 2160P 24Mbps is awesome.
I upgraded my Sony Bravia (Sat model) KD-49xe9005 to android 8 before starting even though don't recommend it.
