    air conditioning unit

is there a portable air conditioning unit that works on the same principal as a condensing tumble dryer ie no need for an exhaust hose to put out a door or window as surely this just defeats the object and lets the hot air back in again ive always been told to keep the windows and doors shut for best efficiency

Personal experience portable ones aint worth it (unless you do find a condensing type ?), i had one got more heat off the exhaust made the room warmer unless you was 2 feet from the cooler, sold it got a fan instead.

Portable ones do work ok, the exaust hose is important as its removing the hot air out of the room, if you have a sliding door or a small window its dead easy to rig up.

Just cut a piece of wood to fit in the whole window or sliding door gap, then cut a hole in the wood thats the same size as the exaust tube/vent and close the window or door up to the wood, after 10 minutes you have 10C cooler than the outside air.
