    Stuck at GUI

At and end with my receiver. Everything was working fine till one day last week. I've tried to install original BH img but no joy. Don't even get a prompt for setup. Tried numerous USB sticks all that happens the receiver get's to "Starting GUI" and that is it.

Is there any other way to install a fresh image besides USB. Can I use software and a null modem cable to install BH img?

If it's getting that far you should be able to install the image using a USB stick, an old one, preferably, freshly formatted to FAT 32.
When it's stuck on the User Interface screen have you tried pressing the menu button?
Have you tried accessing it using Filezilla, DCC, Dreambox Control Centre, VUCC, etc?
    Is it a genuine VU+ Solo2, or a clone?
Re-read LeeGW's guide, and keep the power button pressed in, after switching on, to try and boot it up, also try a different image:

Thanks yes done all the above before I posted lol, this was a post to see if anymore could be done via null modem cable. I bought this Receiver off Lee a few year ago now so hoping it's not a clone.

thats a bit insulting to goldwafers, lee does not sell clones, plus this is not a forum for clones, and to add to your post my solo2 as gone wrong purchased from goldwafers 3 X vu+ stb. i have put it down to the heat, i remember it used to happen to the dreamboxes years ago. i have flashed 3 images on my box only when its cold, then the blue light start to blink, and it hot to touch. i will try the above mickha. but i think its over heated. and just to add from GW about 3 years ago.

so fellas looks like im buying a new box but which 1 its going to be VU+.

I've bought all my rx's off Lee, you read my post wrong. So nobody insulting anybody. It is meant to read I bought from Lee so it is genuine. Been in the hobby since 16 channel amstrads came out at Dixons. So you no help to a customer of Lees, your attitude will lose him future custom.

    @seagate1,
the utility is more for zcar, as his receiver is booting up.
There is another thread, on the vuplus forum, regarding failed capacitors, in older VU+ models, whichyou can usually spot, by removing the top cover, and looking for bulging.
New capacitors cost very little, and are quite easy to fit, by snipping the legs, of the failed capacitor, close to the capacitor, and soldering a new capacitor, on the old legs.

lol wine-gums dont drink my friend. and sorry for jumping the gun i just thought you was having a pop at the sponsor GW im in the same rut as you i can flash mine but then it gets hot im unable to do anything with it. and as for soldering ive got no chance and yes i have second fan working on it. like i said i remember back in the day with dreamboxes thay use to overheat so i and many others i should think used little fans to keep them cool.
@zcar no hard feelings i hope.

Dreamboxes had a special fan, designed to cool them down, which can work for most electronic devices:

Cheers mate, come to think of it my RX has been perfect all the time yet with all this hot weather she just decided to hang at GUI. Think tomorrow when I get the NFI img upped via null modem cable I will invest in this sort of cooling system.

Well I cannot work out what is wrong, maybe needing a new Receiver.

Took the cover off and nothing untoward. Dragged a old PC down and tried with null modem cable not a thing. Linked the Receiver back to my router nothing. No Ip address anymore. Tried to go into menu via remote to see the IP of the receiver is showing there nothing happening.

So I have exhausted all avenues and think I will have to purchase another Receiver from Lee. Just can't understand why she gone like this. Was working perfect last week with the IMG Lee put on for me when I bought it. Not even the fan comes on now I noticed yet there is power going into the Receiver.

At the moment I am sat here thinking do I stick with Satellite Receiver or do I go for a IPTV now. I have more chance of catching Football matches with motorised satellite than IPTV?

You can have both, as the VU+ models can run Kodi, IPTV, and satellite.
Have you tried loading a new image, using an old USB stick?
I have heard tales of people getting it working after numerous attempts.

I would also look around for a local television/DVD electronics repair shop, and see how much they charge, for fault finding, my local Telecentre does it for free, and then provides a quote and asks if you want them to proceed.

Yeah now that is a good idea about a eltronics shop, will take a look now. Tried many usb sticks mate and still the same, just hangs don't even get a prompt to install new img. The only good thing about all of this is that it went after the Footy season so it's giving me time to sort things.
