drag it to the box at the bottom of the window where it says-
2. Drag previously uploaded files into this area to attach them.

But that's the problem - I can't upload it to drag it to the bottom. I've uploaded 22 files previously, but can't do this one. Tried Chrome & Firefox.
EDIT - and Internet Explorer

I did , "Go advanced", "chose attachments", "add files", "browse" then navigated to where my RAR file was and selected it, then "upload" then after it was uploaded made sure it was in the bottom box.
using firefox 51.0.1 32bit on win7
Is there a max file size for the board?

I can't see the 'Go Advanced'. I've even tried uploading a simple jpeg, and that's not working either.
to reply to this thread I used go advanced at the bottom of the screen its in between to "post quick reply" and "cancel" below the quick reply box

Can now see "Go advanced", but can't see "chose attachments". Only things I can see are "Manage attachments" or the paper clip symbol.
The paper clip symbol is the attachments, click on it and you get a pop up manage attachments screen.
Click on the add files option, then either the select files or basic uploader options.
after you choose go advanced a box appears where you can type your reply into, accross the top of the box are various icons, they start with a letter "A" then "AA" then two more greyed out then "font" then "size" then "A" then an emoji the next one (the 9th one along) is the Attachments one.
Nothing works - can't even upload a JPEG - must be something to do with my account - can't understand it.
Hi Steve,
I've checked and your account is OK.
I've tested the upload functionality and it's working OK.
I've uploaded a test jpg
What is the size of the file you're trying to upload?
Seeing as you are a senior member, with sufficient posts, you should be able to upload files, providing they meet the forums size requirements.
As you have tried other browsers the problem must lie elsewhere.
Can you test it on a different PC?
Just checked your image:
The file is within the limits, only 8kb. IE, firefox & chrome tried. Can try clearing browsing history but only one machine available to me, other than my phone. This site is blocked by my work PC.
Thanks for everyone's help so far.
This is interesting I have had problems uploading for a long time and have virtually given up trying.
So I saved hda5's pic from post 11 on my PC and tried uploading it and this worked, I then tried a few random jpg files and they failed to upload.
On my long running thread https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthrea...-HD-PSU-repair I even resorted to emailing jpg's to jphilweybr and asking him to post them on the thread for me and this worked although he sometimes has problems uploading. So perhaps something in the files change when they are emailed making them acceptable for upload?
Does anyone know if there is a size (or any other) restriction on uploaded files?
Yes there is a file size restriction, on most forums.
A quick way round this is to use a program like Paint Shop Pro, where you can quickly re-size the image, by percentage.
You should get an error message if your file is too large.
There might also be a file name problem, certain characters might also be coding, on forums, so try to keep the file name simple, you can post more detailed information, regarding what the file does, in the thread itself.

I have tired to upload 2 jpg files, one is 554KB and the other 853KB each started downloading and the progress bar, well progressed, until it got to the end and then a red circle appeared with an exclamation mark in it. I renamed the files as one.jpg and two.jpg and tried again with the same results. I tried again using the basic uploader option and instead of the red circle got a message saying the files failed to upload.
The files used were one that jphilwrb had previously uploaded and the same one which I had put a red marker on to show a point of interest. They are only small files and one had previously been uploaded by another member so why should there be a problem?
