100 years old today. Thousands of troops have said she kept them thinking of home during the 39/45 war. She's still going strong, not singing of course but extremely bright with great memories.

Amazing age to reach! Wish her well for the day and for the future!

Just watched the BBC2 tribute programme - and WOW, what a star!
I can 'just' remember my Dad raving about her at the end of WW2 - and also the first time in the latter war years hearing her voice myself on the radio myself -m and I was totally bowled over as to how clear and perfect was her voice - like a bell, crystal clear!
Watched her entertaining the troops - in Burma - no, or very few, other entertainers would DARE venture there from ENSA, but OUR Vera did - and the lads loved her for it!
She was the very first English singer to go to number one in the States, in 1952, with Auf Wiedersehen Sweetheart - and also had her own tv shows through the 50's, 60's and 70's, so great was her popularity!
She's still as sharp as a razor, even at 100, which is absolutely great to know too!
Congratulations once more to OUR Dame Vera!
