Hotspot shield works ok for free, on the free version you only the USA server for nought, for the rest of the world you have to pay.

Its just about been ok for me for the last year, there are now some irritating pop ups and videos that you have to tolerate but I just open another copy of the browser and leave the first one trolling away with the rubbish and use the second unaffected one to do your stuff.

Whilst the SmartDNS VPN works very well, it opens all the ISP blocked sites that I use, it is only available once you sign up after the free trial of their DNS service
so you can't try it before you buy
Speeds are pretty good for a 'free' VPN as well, I'm currently getting 14.18Mb/s down and 5.82Mb/s up through it

TonyO tried the free Hotspot shield but dosent appear to work
is there someting in srttings you have to change says it connected to usa
but tried it on icefilms but no joy.

i have tried the free smartdnsproxy trial and i want to apply it to kodi on my smart tv through the fire tv box.i`m not sure of the setup process and would welcome advice to get it working.
