    Ridiculous system, a top civil servant and other people get knighted for just doing their well paid jobs in politics, sport or entertainment yet Nigel Farage doesn't even get a mention for one of the smallest awards.

    i think the only reason they give some of the honours to ordinary people is just to make it look legit

    The majority of the honours are CBE, OBE abd MBE but the United Kingdom doesn't have an Empire anymore.

    As said above, a few deserving nominations are just there to make the system look creditable.

    As far as i am concerned the honours list is a load of crap.

    I know a lady which runs a self help hospice near me.

    She started it in 1983 still going strong works 16 hours a day can be called day or night.

    All she got was a MBE should be made a dame.

    I speak for personal experience with my mother she was brilliant
