    Unicable and fbc tuners

    Hi guys.

I don't really "get" unicable lnbs - and now there are receivers (VU+ Solo 4K) that have fbc tuners inside them to cater for such lnbs.

I was wondering if they might start to become defacto standard, or are they really only for specialist use?

I currently have 2 x 28.2e fixed dish feeds and 2 x motorised dish feeds into my living room. Therefore if I were to utilize each feed - traditionally I would need 4 tuners....

Am i correct in thinking that if i used a unicable lnb on the 28.2 dish and one on the motorised sat along with a compatible receiver with 2 x fbc tuners, i would only need 1 of each feed from each source to accomplish the same?

I'd give it a while before using your hard earned cash.

As I read it, it is a system that puts the usual 4 possibilities from an LNB into a single cable.

Sky Q uses elements of it where it should eventually allow those in flats with a distribution system to have mre than one feed down their single cable.

Most enthusiasts receivers don't support it (yet) as they need a different front end with a wider bandwidth.

I have a black ultra ku lnb on my motor, if im recording a h/v channel on the solo 4k i can still select other channels on the same band even though its a single output lnb.
