    signal problems-due to trees?

    hi guys,
i've signal problems with stuttering of picture, already had a new satellite cable installed, had dish, motor, pole & LNB checked, the dish is at the gable at back of my garage i got a 2nd opinion from a different installer and he said trees were the problem, they are approx. 30 metres from my dish but have become quite high, could this be the problem?
If so the roads service own the trees & have refused to trim them unless they were a danger, im getting a price tonight from a tree surgeon to do itfor me but expecting it to be funny money!!

Have you tried using the show obstacle option, on the dishpointer site?
This will give you an idea of how high the trees have to be, before they cause a problem.
Seeing as you've checked everything else it more than likely is the trees, and if they are that high it could cost a bit of money, and specialist equipment, to trim them back, as they are probably in a public area, and might require safety certificates.
    Can you post any pictures?

Is there any possibility that you could raise the mounting pole by a couple of feet, just on a temporary basis,
that would prove/disprove the tree theory. Moving the dish would certainly be a lot cheaper than having work
done on the tree's, with all of the possible problem, already mentioned.

    regards mobley2

    Hi Chopper,
normally its about a 30 degree angle you need from the dish upwards to clear the trees. Fi it is less then yes problems - so slightly raising it may help. Hope you solve it - Brain

    Hi,

if you have an Android or IOS smartphone then you could try one of the free applications like 'Sat Finder Lite' to view the satellite arc on your screen and see directly which satellites are blocked by the trees.
