how many Gb to watch a film ?

im thinking about taking an amazon fire tv stick abroad to watch some English tv and films , but dont have internet in the place im going so i can buy a 4G card for a wifi dongle and it has 15Gb on it and then im told once the 15 Gb are used it will drop to 4 Gb which i think may still be enough to watch tv . Does anyone know how long 15Gb should approx last , just in case the 4 Gb doesnt work ? thanks

It all depends what and in which quality you watch,
if you watch a film in bluray quality then it could well be 8-12 gig (maybe even larger) in size so one 2 hour film would nearly eat up all your data
but lower quality rips 300-800mb would give you a lot more viewing

yup depends on format and quality!

Direct bluray rips can be 25G or more per movie, compressed mkv versions are typically 4-12G and internet streamed movies can be under 1G (for SD movies) or typically 1-2G for compressed HD 720p or 1080p compressed low quality movies (such as Amazon/netflix/internet streamed).

Does the 15Gb and 4 Gb refer to download limits or speed in Mb?

@ nml , i was only told about this sim card whilst on holiday last week , but i think there is 15Gb of data on the sim that lasts for 3 months and if you use the data before the 3 months is up , then the speed drops to 4Gb , so you can still use the sim . ( this is how i understood it , could this be right ? ) thanks

Your 15GB download limit will last for less then 15 hours for HD as stated previously in this thread .
It sounds like a 4g sim dropping to 3g when the download limit is reached. The 4Gb download speed is not possible so it will be 4 Mb this would struggle on HD but should be fine on SD for example Filmon.
I would double check the detail before buying. Also a lot of areas only have 3g coverage, so speed will be limited from day 1, will you be using it in the UK or abroad?
