    VU+ Duo stripped down image.

    Hi everyone.
I have been given 2 Duos that were faulty.
I manged to get them both working after a lot of effort.
I still have a small problem with one of them. It works OK but after changing a few channels it restarts itself.
Is there a really basic stripped down image out there that may be of help to me?

    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Jules.

Have you checked the crash/error log, to see what the problem is, or does it just re-boot?

This might still be a hardware problem, rather than an image/plugin problem.
You can try loading an early, original, image, from vuplus, to see if that works:
    Code:

    Thanks.
I have tried different images. Still runs fine until I change a few channels.
    Could it be the epg?

Yes, you should just load the image, and run the receiver, without any plugins, channel list, or any back ups, instead just do a scan of the satellite you're on, and do a soak test, constantly running it, changing channels, etc, for a few hours.

Thanks Mickha I will try. Could it also be a skin problem?

Depends on the image, and the skin, which is why you generally stick to the default skin, until everything is working.
I do know of a skin causing problems with recordings, but the EPG plugin is more likely to be the issue, unless it's still a hardware fault.

Thanks. I would like to try uninstalling the epg plugin first. Can you help me with that please? It is not in the uninstall menu.
    Regards,
    Jules

Which EPG systen did you install, and which image are you running?
It would be better to do a fresh install, of the early vuplus image, then check that everything is working, rather than uninstalling various plugins.

Thanks. Which version would you recommend? It needs to have high bitrate support for CI slot.
    Thanks.

For the soak test, to ensure your Duo is working properly, I would use the official image:
    [CODE]http://code.vuplus.com/[CODE]

Remember the Duo is an early model, without the necessary memory, or CPU, to handle the latest features, like Kodi, so I would stick with an early version, of an image.

    Hi Mickha, just an update.
I have removed my CI cam from slot and everything is running OK at the moment.
seems that is causing it to reboot.

    Thanks.
    Jules.

That could explain why it's re-booting without the usual green/blue screen error message, and log, detailing the problem.
Does the cam cause the same problem in the other duo?

I will study them again though.
