Back in 1991
A company called Star Trax I think?
Sent their reps around the estate I was living on at the time
Gave away free white dish & amstrad 200 boxes on the hope people subscribed
Anyway the estate looked like the one off Keeping Up Appearances

Virtually non subscribed
The company was supposed to come back & remove the equipment
But never did
So me & a friend of mine offered to remove these eyesores for free
Which were then sold off down the pub later on!

Anyone recall the Conax hack using a laptop,a serial port lead with a card attached and running off a floppy disc ?
I'm sure you all do but it was great fun watching the info scroll up the laptop screen -- an old Toshiba Satellite -- as the picture cleared.

That was a good weez for quite a while, if you left the floppy disk in an old PC and it booted up everytime and gave the so called complete Scandinavian Dream Package on 1W, just seen as part of the good old days now !

Just having a good sort out in my shed. I hate throwing thinks away thus all the stuff I've saved over the years. 3 TVs to go, an old pace analog stb, a mvision digital stb and a lot of old audio equipment.
There is also a phillips bsb receiver that I had converted by Transworld Satellite Systems to d2mac which I an reluctant to throw away, but it's not ever going to used again so it might as well go, maybe.

God I had one of those Phillips bsb coverts to get the "Only for educational purpose" late night training films.

early 90's when 16:9 tvs were launched. Philips subsidised the TV PLUS movie channel on 16e 16:9 and rgb d2mac goodness. Loved those days.

I didn't discover Satdudez until doing a search on Seca Mediaguard and was surprised to find that it was hacked. So around the late 90s I had all the CanalPlus channels.

On a visit to the UK I programmed a Goldie for the On_Digital terrestrial digital TV which my lad was using as a FTA tuner. Again was surprised that it opened all the encrypted channels too. Good quality and widescreen 16 x 9. I was really sad that then the UK On_Digital was so low powered that it barely reached Calais let alone Roermond.

It was a mag I kept for years until we had a clean out & mrs accidentally chucked it out

Toecutters Den and this Site were the best during the early years of satellite TV. Satpimps still brilliant, in fact the greatest! Can't say the same for Toecutters. What is going on with this forum, one big argument, it seems, between a moderator and the few who still sign in. The weather appears to be the sole topic of conversation after all the disagreements. Quiet sad really. Anyway,

One of my best memories in those early days when one depended on a card programmed up - always every time one was just sitting down for the match or film the card failed about 5 mins before, and a quick dash to the PC to search known source and re-programme before the start!! Some time ago all this but fun. All best - Brain

It most certainly kept one on their toes progaming all those old cards, sadly none of those old cards are of any use today.

I too remember the good old days ,scrambeling to the PC to download the latest keys and to program the cards and boy ,I had some cards .Spent a fortune on them and Cams over those years. Infact ,there all on **** at the minute. Been lying around for years and though I'd have a clear out. I'm in my 60's now and sadly dont have the time or money to spend on hobby's like I use too. My 2 x Spiderbox's HD9000 are dormant too ,dont think there is much use for them either. My memory's of the sat scene go back to the days of D2-MAC , wow it seems like a lifetime away now.

Nice to see many of the guys from the early days :-)

I started back in 1990 with a 1.20 cm dish and a Protec receiver, I rememberer very well how so few channels was on the satellites and the satellites was not as easy as today to find

everything was almost for free back on those days. I was so hucked up with some channels that showed horse racing.

was cool to cheek the net for keys sometime back when we still had dialup lines for internet.
