Hi all
I have just put the new channel list on my spiderbox 9000hd got a great signal on all sats but it is freezing and really pixilated even on BBC etc.
Any idea?

if you are using a motor , adjust the usals slightly until the quality improves , because the chances are the person who made the list has a different gps than you, so you need to set yours correctly

I have done that and quality is excellent but still breaking up. Wonder if it's a fault on the coax?

After a couple of years perminently on the power supply gives problems with the 9K, its a sod to fix, the caps are fixed so close together, I fixed two of them but its not economical, theres nearly 50 on the main board.

The latest 6k ones with an external 12v supply are a better bet, if it packs up just buy another one.

the OP could try a different lnb or different coax cable, or try a different box on the existing lnb + coax cable, to prove where the fault occurs, on which part of the system

but I agree with tonyo here, that the chances of it being a faulty 9000 is extremely high seeing as they are old and that caps dry out etc

same applies with the 7000 model too , all kinds of issues when they are a few years old

a new 6000 or hitech box would cure it IMHO

maclads do you keep your box on standby or do you turn off each time after use, I have a 9000HD and noticed that after the box has been on along period around 4-6 hours certain channels do tend to freeze, also find I need to reboot my Orange Livebox, both allowing box to cool and the reboot does help. No doudt some of the early 6000 are old enough to experience the heating problem if kept on standby. To help I have always used hoover to clean air vents both at top and sides and especially under the box this certainly help to keep the air flow and cool the box.

Yeah I do tend to keep it on all the time I will try another box on the cable today and see what happens.

yep, that is what we suspected and par for the course given your box is several years old and the caps will have failed or some other technical issue will have happened to it (I have a couple of 7000,s here with similar issues that failed some years ago)

a new SB6000 or HB9000 or VU is required ideally, so out with the old , in with the new , they dont last forever

I am sure Goldwafers can help you out once you decide what comes next

I already gave you my recommendations based on your budget and also your abilities ?

if a linux box is too hard, and you only want a single tuner box that is fairly simple to use and to program, then the SB6000 or HB9000 which are maybe less than £100, OR if you want a challenge or twin tuner with internal drive, get a vu solo 2 (much more expensive)

with any box i purchase..i always make sure plenty of ventilation
i find that using blue tack under each corner of any box to lift it helps keep good airflow around box
example,mygica box...the studs on bottom very small in height...lifted each corner with blue tack and now massive change in box not getting hot
i did this with my spiderbox..same result...ran very cool from long periods of use
fortec star with cam slots...placed portable fan blowing air into cam slots...stopped freezing and overheating
keeping box cool helps prolong life of box overheating issues

I always use small blocks, under each corner, the last being the counters, from an old connect 4 game, and these slot together, allowing me to set the height required.

From what I've read, the Spiderbox 6000 HD is different to the Spiderbox 9000 HD, you might also want to look at the Hitech 9000, as mentione by echelon, in an earlier post:
