    HitechBox Review

Certainly good to see a new receiver and especially one that seems very straight forward with the satellite setup. My Spiderbox HD9000 I bought back in 2010 and is still used on a daily basis, have to say after hearing problems in 2015 from other 9000 users stating their receiver had crashed it worried me that I would end up with no receiver to use with my Iks.

So now again it is time for me to get a new receiver and after reading about the new HitechBox HB9000, it seems the ideal box. So I would certainly appreciate any reviews from new owners. Have to say I am happy with the satellite set up, this is what I am use to but it is the stalker, iptv etc that is my weak point. Best johnhenry

Can anyone tell me is it possible to open PowerVu channels with this receiver?
Is it just a matter of inputting the 7 byte keys in via remote control?
I’ve noticed the mention of PowerVu channels in all reviews are conspicuous by their absence .
Could anyone with this receiver please give me a Yes or No to this?

    Thanks in advance.

hosemaria thankyou for your very helpful thread, obviously from your test on the new receiver all seem to have gone well.

Have to say I was puzzled by you having both Mscam and Iks working well, my reason being I thought the receiver came with Mscam however you were able to use your Iks code if required ? to be running both which are similar at the same time seems counter productive, I think members who had bought the Spider 6000 in the past used their old Iks first, then switched on the Mscam once the Iks had ran out.

Reference IPTV this I have no problem understanding, what is Msiptv, Gsacam, Extreme codex Panel and Stalker Panel ? to me this is really not satellite, however if it gives extra uses brilliant, but another field of the internet media I will have to study for the future.

MSiptv =IPTV request code need to pay.
Gscam = Request code need to pay similar like IKS.
Extreme Codex = Iptv Panel and you can ridirect there your own Portals IPTV
Stalker Panel=mean you you have your own Panels or some one else panels can add ip or domain and enter in their service .

Yes you right Internet media is Important soon not many channels will be open in Sat you have to request them on IPTV...and mean time you can take your box over the world and watch same channels you watching in UK and you don't need Sat dish.

I have not commented on any non-linux receiver since the fantastic Spiderbox 9000 - mine is still working perfectly - but having got one of these tiny boxes recently, I have to weigh in with my opinion that this is an impressive receiver that packs a lot of excellent features into a really compact box.

    Hi
Yes, I too have to compliment blackdevil on all the extra punches this small box packs, not gone deeply into all it offers yet as it has more of a different type of learning curve than any other Satellite boxes I have used. Very impressed up to now, look forward to some improvements on MsCAM.

My Spiderbox is playing up a bit and like John Henry I am interested in this new box .
Similarly up to now I have concentrated on the satellite functions and I am not clear on the function/use of Portals and other non-satellite functions . Is there a 'dummies' guide where I could get up to speed on these developments ?
I have some time left on my IKS can I reload it into the Hitech box ?
Can anyone give a comparison on the relative merits of IKS and MsCam ?
I really appreciate it when contributors give such positive and helpful comments .

    Hello jb,
My knowledge of , and the jargon for , Portals, middleware etc. at the moment is zero !
You say these are mentioned in post # 6 , what I am hoping for is a dummies guide to explain it.
That said I got interested when I saw the 'new Satellite receiver' thread . I now realise the 'Hitech HB 9000 ' thread cover many angles and I will now sit down and digest the information available !

we dont discuss clone boxes or unofficial boxes on here, this thread is about the HITECH SB9000 available from goldwafers only, nothing else

try google if you wish to know about clones or the hundreds of other boxes that this forum does not deal with

If you mean the HitechBox HB9000 from Chinese site is our manufacturer.
    It is for Chinese market.
Boxes with other names but with similar menu or specs or anything else has no relation with us.

    Hi
There won't be a dummies guide to what a portal is or what middleware is, you can Google them, but basically a portal is a port/hole as in Star trek but using your Network cable to an online link to stream channels back to your STB.
Middleware is basically linking software, blackdevils clever part, Google it if you really need to know it all in depth.
It mentions in post #6 the Stalker Portals 4 off, so plenty to watch if your dish blows down.
Its time you bought one now.

Here is my Mini-Review on the HitechBox, as only had it working as I want it for a few days.

This box is so small you hardly notice it, and I did not realize it had been delivered as I was expecting a large box rather than the small jiffy bag it arrived in.

First tip is to stick the number label it comes with to the box it came in or it will soon get lost before you have installed the receiver.

After scanning each satellite I deleted all the channels that don't open or never likely to watch as there is a 4000 limit on TV channels and 4000 for radio.
Also I backed up the channels each time after I had scanned a satellite and trimmed the channels in case the box crashed and loses everything which it won't if you don't go over the limit.

The box does open a lot of satellite channels, much more than I was expecting having previously owned other more expensive boxes.
I have never owned a Spiderbox, so I don't know how this compares.
There is no proper EPG, just a channel list of what is on now as far as I can tell.

There are lots of IP channels available subject to the quality of your internet connection, so there should always be something to watch.

    So far so good.

Forgot to say that you must buy from Goldwafers as other suppliers may disappoint.
