M6 hd,TF1 Hd, France2 Hd, Terrestial tv kent.

Hi, I recently had a very strange occurance with my Samsung smart tv,
I live in Kent and all my stations on my terrestrial tv disappeared so I rescanned them
and they all came back on.But on the end of the channel list I now have French hd channels listed
but unfortunately they do not seem to work.I was wondering if it is possible to get the channels to
work either moving my airial? or was this just a freak occurance.

What could account for this a temporary weather phenomena where UHF transmissions are bent back to earth via the troposphere rather than shooting off into space. It is usually associated with high pressure systems but there has not been many of them recently anyway it is temporary and could explain why it was there when re scanned but could not tune in to the stations later.
Google UHF transmissions via the trops

    Might not be temporary.

I also live in Kent with a Samsung smart TV and can always access French TV channels on Freeview.
I have been able to do this for at least a few years now.

Some of the ones I get are scrambled but several are FTA.

Cheers mate I think I might get a new wide band aerial and see if I can get these channels.
I think I need a new aerial as it's been on the roof since the 80's
