best trick is to get a router that is _http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index compatible
and then get a sub to a open VPN provider, then u can turn off VPN at will from router

a lot of the sites (pc desktop app) says dont use for torrents,
i get 20mb connections all ok from the 3 for the uk

main reason i have a vpn is i like some of the kodi apps that a vpn only opens ( los movies 3D ) and also i have it on my iphone as some sites i go on is about cardsharing and i like people to not know my ip.

you don't need to put vpn on Kodi just connect your device with VPN and start using kodi and this VPN tunnel will completely hide your identity by changing your IP address to be that of the server from the country of your choice, from the extensive list of your VPN. However i will not suggest to use free vpn because it is insecure and can be harmful to you so it is better to use highly encrypted vpn rather than free and for the best kodi vpn i recently found a comparison table from :

If you are at ****** fire stick, You need to install it at the router level. If you are using android tv box, Uninstall the pre loaded version of kodi and install straight from Google play store. Read this detailed kodi vpn guide

Steps to setup VPN within Kodi

Now you might want to use a VPN from within Kodi. It’ll save the time to install VPN on all the devices where you access Kodi. Just select your best VPN for streaming Kodi media and follow the steps below:

    1. First of all, download and install the software called OpenVPN GUI.
    2. Next, download Zomboided Repository from Github.
    3. Now launch Kodi>Add-Ons>Add-On Browser.
    4. Select Install from zip file option.
    5. Download the Zomboided Repository.
    6. Once done, click on Install from Repository
    7. Navigate your way to Zomboided Add-on Repository> Services> VPN Manager for OpenVPN.
    8. Once the add-on is enabled, open it and click on add-on settings.
    9. Select VPN Configuration> VPN Provider.
    10. Enter the username and password.
    11. Now go to VPN Connection tab and click on First VPN Connection.
    12. Select the server you want to connect with.
    13. Click Ok and you’re done.

    Hope these will help you.

    hey den123.

There are a handful ways to get a VPN working over your Kodi.

    1. install a vpn through the application (Windows and android devices). then activate it and run Kodi
    2. instead of downloading the app, just configure the vpn using your vpn credentials over your router, then run Kodi (a little techie)
    3. instead of downloading the app, manually configure the vpn using your vpn credentials over your phone/device, then run Kodi (again little techie)
    4. install the vpn over kodi from within the kodi using the said vpn's addon (your options will be limited here since not all providers have this addon where you can set it up from within and it's a bit techie)
    5. in rare case of openelec, read up more on this kodi vpn addon.

for 1-3, check your provider's support page, for 4 follow rogerarbogast's tutorial and for 5, check out the link.

I decided to use CyberGhost VPN after reading the review and it`s quite good.

If your Kodi Media Center doesn't start automatically when booting up Windows, simply start CyberGhost before Kodi and activate the profile 'Choose my VPN server' to start a custom connection. Of course you can also use any other profile as well. Once a connection is established, connections from Kodi will be forced into the VPN tunnel just like any other program. This also goes for the Windows 10 Kodi app from the Windows app store.

download free or subscibe to a vpn provider
install the vpn ie..on android box..or tablet...or pc etc
now open the vpn..turn it on,and now every app ie kodi etc will now be protected on the box..
no special setting up etc to get vpn to work
this is how i set up android box
    1..get your vpn
2.. install vpn..open it..select which country you want to go through
once its connected...open kodi...using your mouse go to very top of your screen and click
now you will see a key icon...that means your vpn is working in kodi
when you open say youtube...do same at top and you will see that vpn is on ie a key symbol
so like i have said...your vpn auto works with all your apps you are using..but only on the item you have installed it on
for example..my vpn on my android box does not protect my kodi on laptop
for protection on my laptop using kodi...i install the vpn on that
hope this helps anyone who is confused by using a vpn
