Make sure ip is correct, and that addons is selected when sending file.
    What is the failed message?
Some times bestt to disonnect adb server and firestick, then reselect connect then use restore.
I have done loads and all been ok.

ip is correct,,, i backed up my original firestick to a desktop folder,,,i connected the other firestick to the tv ,opened adb fire on the laptop and connected to the firestick,i then selected the restore option on adb fire and selected the desktop folder which has the backup.it still fails after a few minutes... " restore failed "

are you using the restore option,,,,or the push/pull/delete files,,,,, option.
making a backup works fine but can take a while,,,,

i gave up on adb fire and now backup to the firestick itself,,,then using es file explorer copy it across the network to my nas for future use.

cordinn i have made many backups and also used the restore with adb you
need to exit kodi completely and go back to the fire sticks home page.
give that a try hope it helps.

Nothing more irritating than someone posting a reply like "I did it without any problems" and nothing else.

I had your same error, cordinn and this was my fix:

Even after rebooting the firestick, I would get either that error or one that said kodi wasnt installed (even tho I was able to open it) so I reset the firestick back to factory defaults and then applied all system updates. Once the stick was up to date on firmware, I installed Kodi, rebooted one more time and then opened kodi. Once kodi went thru its "first run", I rebooted the stick again. It was only then I was able to restore from back up successfully. I realize this post is probably too late to help you since it has been over a year, but hopefully it will help someone else that comes looking.
    Regards

if you are looking for a kodi build,,,,there are loads out there.....google "ares wizard" ,it has loads of builds available. as for installing kodi on a firestick i use es file explorer ftp option it works great..you can send es file explorer to your firestick from the amazon appstore...........i had purchased webspace for another project and then used it for storing kodi and a few other apps....that is the only reason i use the ftp method..
