Help please. I am trying to install Kodi 14.2 onto my stick. I have managed to DL 14.2 and ADBFire but the problem I have is that when I try to connect to the fire stick through ADB it shows "ADB not running" at the bottom right of the box and "Device not connected.
    What am I doing wrong!!!

Try this no root needed launcher for starting your non Amazon apps, it works great.

FireStarter is a Non-Root Launcher Replacement / App-Drawer for Amazon FireTV:
This App is Open-Source, visit FireStarter on GitHub: https://github.com/sphinx02/FireStarter
Similar to Redth's FiredTVLauncher but with REAL HOME BUTTON CLICK DETECTION (no "amazon home is top-application"-detection).
    Even double-home-clicks are captured!!
Completely configurable actions for startup-, home-button-single-click or home-button-double-click.
    Default: Starts itself on FireTV-Startup.
Default: Starts itself when Home-Button is single-clicked.
Default: Starts amazon home when Home-Button is double-clicked (actually does nothing as amazon home is the default action for home-button clicks).
You can e.g. start Kodi on double-click and FireStarter on single-click.
Also possible is to keep up the default behaviour (" - No Action - ") on a single-click (amazon home is starting) and to open e.g. FireStarter on a double-click.
Lists all user-installed apps including sideloaded / adb installed apps.
Apps can be easily sorted by click-drag-and-drop (long-click to start drag-and-drop).
Apps can be hidden from app drawer (see settings).
    Automatic update mechanism.
    No root required!

Unzip the attached keyboard.xml, Use ADBfire, select Keymaps and push the the keymap.xml to the Fire.

This will give you a much better user experience with Kodi using the remote, allowing you to use the menu key for adding, removing or selecting favourites and also allowing access to addon settings etc.

Just for clarity, this is from adbfire help

The "Restore Kodi" button restores a backed up copy of org.xbmc.* (or fork) to the device. Kodi must be closed in order to restore.

adb dosent restore a backup when kodi is running,,,,,,,trying to restore a kodi backup using adb fire is a major pain in the butt.
i have no issues installing apps to the firestick using adb.
will have to do some research to find an alternative method.
