    Echostar 1.2m dish (LNB problem)

I have just acquired an Echostar 1.2 dish. It's "borrowed" from a friend that dosen't use is anymore.
It didn't have an LNB on it and the LNB's I have (standard ones) don't fit, they are too big.
Will I have to buy a special LNB or has anyone any less expensive ideas.
    Thanks in advance.

I still use one of these its has about a 30mm collar for a w120 widebeam feedhorn, you cant easily fit a 40mm collar universal lnb although they work very well with them.

I made one recently so I could use a black inverto 40mm lnb which worked well but it was bloody hard work making it, I had to throw the first one away as it slightly altered the focus of the lnb, the second one worked as I rectified the mistakes of the first one.

I am away for 2 weeks and dont get back to the uk till the end of sept, so I'm not much help till then.

With the aid of a hacksaw and hammer, I have modified the LNB holder. It now holds a standard 40mm LNB. Hopefully I haven't altered the focus on the dish I will report back in a couple of days when I have installed the dish.
My idea is to use this dish a "stand alone" for 7W only. I have a 1m motorised dish for other sats.

Mine works well with AJ on 7w, only very heavy rain or jet black clouds take it out for a short while usually.

Depends on where you are for 7w H
I am south and east England, and my 1.2 channel master during winter will drop below 50% of the time to see 7w H
In summer as we tilt back you should get better than 80%
my 1.8 has it all the time.
there are 40mm holders for the dish as I have all 3 for both my channel masters, 23mm, 30mm and 40mm.

    Hi There.
I hope you don't mine me bumping up this old thread again.
I Have an Echostar 1.2mt which I use with a feed horn & Invacom C120 lnb.
I want to try an Inverto Universal lnb with the dish & am looking everywhere without any luck so far for a 40mm Lnb Holder.
The one I have is 30mm & came with the dish which I bought many years ago.
Can I ask where you got your lnb holder please ?

This is the one I have.
Even if I could get another of these or similar I could modify it.

I'm in North England, so i'm maybe pushing it, but it's worth a try.
I've been busy today fixing brackets and pole to the wall. It's only about 2m up but too heavy to lift up myself so I'm waiting for my son to finish work to give me a lift and then I'll see what it will do.
tr8: Do you think the channel master 40mm holder would be suitable for the echostar dish?

Well that was a waste of time. The 1.2m Echostar didn't perform any better that my 1m Orbital. So down it comes......

Buy a c120 universal LNB and fix it to your feed horn.

Sent by pressing the screen on 1 of my Apple devices, cuz that's how I roll..

The problem is the better LNB's such as the Black Ultra are only available in 40mm standard form and not C120, so you either modify the existing holder or have one fabricated from a local metal works or modify the 40mm to fit the C120 feedhorn

    Yes you're right.
I suppose there isn't enough call for C120 versions to be made.
It looks like a diy job alright.
I will probably make a template & see if I can get someone to make it for me.

I sent an email to both Satellite S***rs***e & Tv Trade.ie with photos of what I was looking for but didn't receive a reply from either even though I had bought quite a few items from both in the past few months.
It seems that if you want to buy a big ticket item they have no problem answering e mails but if you want a smaller item or advice they have no interest.

I've made several lnb brackets for echostar 1.25mtr dishes that will take a 40mm collar, I've got a couple spare but am off to Austria for Christmas in a couple of days so I cant sort anything this side of the new year.

I also burned my miniature angle grinder motor out which needs fixing or replacing, I cant make them without one as its too fiddly with normal size tools.

If you can wait till January I hope to make some more.

    No problem.
Won't be much happening this side of Christmas anyway.

A kind person on this forum has forwarded me a bracket which he makes up himself & this looks like it will work with a bit of fettling.
I will give it a go when the weather improves a little.
