Streaming channels over wi-fi to ipad.

    Hi,

Firstly apologies if I'm using the wrong terminology as this is all relatively new to me!

Is it possible to stream the pictures my box picks up to my ipad over my wi-fi ??

Vu+ Duo with Vix 3.0 image.

    Thanks

    Rob.

I would be interested in this because I can get it to work at home but never at work.

You have to open ports 80 and 8001 to 8002. But would recommend changing your openwebif port in plugins also turn on stream auth. As your open to someone hacking you. Also change your default root password.

    Stev0,

    Any help would be appreciated.

I've got a fixed IP address which I assume I would need, my download speed on my broadband is 72mbps and upload is 17.5mbps which I imagine would be fine. When it comes to the other 'adjustments' I'm a bit confused. I've attached two .jpg's showing the available settings within my router for port forwarding, if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful.

What adjustments do I need to make to the Vu box?
What adjustments do I need to make with my router ?
What settings should I put into the iphone app (that's currently working fine within my local network to stream TV)?

    Thanks.

I can't see jpgs on my phone just blurred. But if you find out for router make and mode. Google it with port forwarding there should be a guide. As for phone settings just need to change your IP from local to your internet one. Once you've opened the ports. But always remember opening ports is opening your box to hacking.

Jase you can only stream locally with dm800 as it doesn't have transcoding unless you have a mega good upload speed.

yeah just enter your local ip, username and password will work fine without any ports opening or anything. as long as your connected to the wifi which your box is on.

    Stev0,

    Think I'm getting there !!

Are you able to help with the detail for the below fields within 'port forwarding' on my router ?

    FTP server port ?
    Port range ?
    Local port ?
Protocol ? TCP, UDP, both, other.

I've done loads of Google search's as you suggested and its helped but it doesn't give me the fields for my specific needs, any help greatly appreciated.

    Rob.

port range = 80 to 80(unless you change your webif port)

    protocol = both

    then for streaming

    port range = 8001 to 8002

    protocol = both

routers arent my strong point. but im sure someone might be able to fill in the gaps better than me.

    Stev0,

    WOW, all working now. Thanks.

One last question - If I access my Vu box from my PC using VU+control centre on my local network is it possible to stream the TV signal? I'm guessing the answer is yes however, every time I click the TV symbol it comes up 'stream.m3u' it then opens itunes but nothing happens.

Once again, thanks for your help.

    Stevo,

Great I've got my PC streaming working now too!

One question on security when streaming using external network - I've been on to my PC opened VUcc-07 software and amended my root password as you suggested. Its obviously taken the password as I now need to enter new password to get PC access to my box. However, when I go into my Vu app on my phone it still connects to my box without me amending my password to the new one.

    How can that be ?

    Thanks.

I would just change you root pass to a very long password with upper and lower case with numbers etc then try your app. If it works your settings on the box for webif are wrong and need changing

also bear in mind the minor point that we are now on VuCC 0.8 , not 0.7
