    Vu+ solo 2 and sly

is it possible to use a sly card in my Vu+solo2 receiver
as cant remove HD programs from sly box
to put to blu ray disc

using c lines at the moment for films
but the packages are sometimes glitchy

if I could record from sly I would pay for sky store films and ditch the c lines

anybody have any comments on this please

Sky have paired their HD channels so even if you do you will only get the SD channels working, in your VU+ Solo 2, either with a card, or line.

not for HD, possibly not for SD, all depends on this pairing aspect

so assume NO , but deffo not scrambled HD

yes, that is their idea and their objective, which they are probably hoping to achieve with the red card rollout

you can clearly see its halfway there with the loss of the HD channels which is already under discussion in the last 7 months in that other CS thread

paired means pairing the card with their original box , meaning it will then only work where they want it, in their box and no other box

    they want your

70 to 80 quid a month or more using their box

they dont care what you want

they want you to watch the same $hit over and over again
and you must cough up every month for the privilege

if you removed the hard drive from the sly box
and used the copy + software for putting it on the computer
could you not convert the programs on the drive
    for copying ??

then put the hard drive back

    no

    _http://www.skycopyplus.co.uk/about.php

copy plus (ExPVR) is designed to allow you to transfer recordings from a sly box hdd to another hdd destined for the same sly box

I believe it will let you view free to air content , but as scrambled recordings require the use of the card for descrambling you wont be able to view them or do anything with them either

so ExPVR can copy existing programs from an old hdd to a new hdd (usually when people wish to put a bigger hdd in their box, like I did)

if you had read their webpage, you would see the caveats near the bottom of the link I gave you

so in essence , its one thing to just dump the recordings from one hdd to another hdd, but the safeguards by copy plus and sly stop you manipulating those files to prevent copying to a pc or to dvd - in other words they have already brainstormed these problems and come up with ways to stop copyright theft

What Can I NOT do with Copy+?

Perhaps most importantly, here is a list of the things Copy+ cannot do:

Copy programs to your PC hard disk for viewing later
Copy programs to your DVD recorder, or indeed any other device that is not a Sky+ box
Merge the contents of two disks - The destination is always overwritten
Copy any other type of disk other than a Sky+/XTV format - Use Norton Ghost or similar if you want to do that
Edit programs on your Sky+ drive to remove ad breaks, or padding
Run on a Mac or under Unix/Linux - Sorry I have no plans for such a version
