    dm800 won't connect to pc

Hi,trying to fix a no ca found error on an original dm800 hd pvr.

    042863b9-2146-4394-b27c-95d33d88ca31_zpsfe880e42.jpg

From what i've been told was working fine until a new image was flashed then came up with error.
I'm familiar with all the fixes for this but with every one i've tried there is no sign of a connection or response between the pc and the box.I know the pc serial port is ok and also the null cable because i sucessfully fixed a clone box last week.Could be a duff serial port on the box i suppose,is there a way to test for this.
    Any thoughts welcome,
    John.

If you use the ethernet connection and DCC on your PC does it find the IP address?

If so you can destroy the current image and there is a simple way to re-flash a new image.

    it doesn't

i did find serial port stress software and it looks like the connection is very hit and miss with it only receiving data back once in about 35x whereas an old echolink box i have responded every time.
I remember reading that it sometimes take a lot of tries before some boxes are recognised and this looks like 1 of them.

Hi,not quite sure why it worked but i fixed it.
I connected ethernet and null cable to the powered off box.
I then started the COM Port Stress Test software i downloaded and that displayed data going out from the pc but nothing coming back from the box.
With the software still running i powered on the box whilst holding the power button down and voila, the port tester software showed data going to and most importantly "from the box" and the ca error on the front display had changed to the correct serial port message complete with ip address.
Could have been coincidence but i did try it again without the software running and the fault returned.
Didn't need to use dreamup or any other software just a new image.
I then went online and updated the image in the usual way and it's been faultless since.
    Well happy.

might be something in this as i got another box that wouldn't communicate via the serial port and as soon as i tried it whilst running the stress test software it kicked it into life and booted it to the image that was on it when i go it.
