Can't believe this is the the once great satdudez forum judging by most posts in this thread, myself I have never subscribed to sly as I got all I needed via foreign sat channels & still get enough using my VU+ duo.

£150 per year SteveO, how does that split down between you all, i.e. who gets what FOR what mate?
given that this is a public forum I would ask members to read the rules again due to the way this thread "seems" to be heading before replying
always amazes me that people want detailed black and white answers in actual writing and on public view !

I'd have thought it was obvious tbh.
Stev0 get the entertainment pack on a monday and wednesday, his mum has it tuesday and thursday, his brother on friday and saturday and his sister gets it on a sunday.
Sports Stev0 gets on sat and sunday, his mum gets them monday and wednesday, his brother gets them tuesday and thursday and his sister can view them on friday.
Movies Stev0 gets tuesday and thursday, his mum gets them on friday and saturday, his brother sees them on a sunday and monday and his sister gets them on wednesday.
etc etc etc

I'd have thought it was obvious tbh too !
they all live in one extremely large house and have sly plus HD multi room with all packages and share the cost amongst the whole family
they also have sly BB and slytalk and share the phone and calls and BB costs within this whole £150 package , so about £25 per month each , lol
also easy to get a baby sitter at short notice
Even though we have a Sly basic sat package (now £319.08/year) we still mostly watch BBC, ITV, Ch4 and Five at £145.50/year.
Football and cricket bore the pants off me, so no added sports. I'm coming to the opinion that it is time to ditch Sly - I would miss the likes of Comedy, British Eurosport and a few others but not by 300 quid.
I don't think I have ever watched a complete program on the Sly 1,2 3, Atlantic or whatever they call them now.
As an aside, the feeling in some sports (notably F1 and MotoGP) is that whilst the sport promoter gets very rich by selling the TV rights, the venues are losing out. F1 Nurburgring had a drastic reduction in the number of spectators through the gate. MotoGP Silverstone was down by 40%. It has been attributed to the fact that many fans have not signed up to the pay-TV and, without that continuity, have thus lost interest in both series.
just had a email off sky and thay are putting up their phone line cost by £1 per month also you will be charged £1 per month for using 1571 both from 1st december

Its called competition, the providers compete to see how quickly they can match each others charges.
A Rasberry PI is worth looking into. Very expandable.
I gave sky the big rasberry in 1996 when they wanted me to pay £14.99 on top of my sub to watch Bruno v Tyson.

Into my 2nd month without Sky. The Humax/BT box I've now got is fine for most things but it is amazing how there is much less c**p stuck on the planner.
Also managed to watch all of Boardwalk Empire by other means. Phew.
I'm not missing you Sky. But thank you for the generous offer of a £140 Samsung Tab to entice me back. Pity you couldn't have made more of an effort to keep me in the first place.
Oh and with BT Broadband I am getting 5mb better speed. Whoop. Actually their latest router is pretty decent. Have taken out all my wireless extenders because the signal is so good. Actually got 300mb connection speed with my new laptop (ok I was only 30 feet away)
We had sly for Tv, Broadband & Phone.
Now we don't have them for anything but we still find use for their satellite dishes .
That's what greed does.
Turns people off.
The £1 hike is because BT have upped the monthly charge for everyone using landlines, other phone providers sub letting the landline have to pass the increase on immediately.
Bt have to claw back as much dosh as possible to pay for the huge black hole the premiership football deal has cost them.
Line rental is another big 'money for old rope' rip off.
That's exactly right TonyO - all the others have to buy their service off BT - who've also upped their prices - so in a competitive market the others HAD to follow or risk losing out, or put something else up!
Still think BT are a REALLY poorly run and organised company anyway!!
