    USB HDD & Smart TV

    I have a Samsung UE55ES6800 55" 3D Smart TV.

It can use a USB drive to record programs.

The manual is very poor and I want to attach a usb drive.

I have attached a powered usb drive but it is not detected by the TV.

Is there anything specific I must do to get it to see the drive?
Does the drive need to be a specific type?

    Any advice gratefully accepted.

    Now sorted.

Looks like the drive I used was faulty. Tried a different one and it works fine.

    Hi dog-man,
Thx for your pm. The 40F7000 has two freeview and two freesat tuners so I can watch one channel while recording another on either platform the sandisk cruzer works well but of course has limited capacity (32gig) so for me a HDD would be a good move.
Apparently this Tv is capable of driving a motorised dish plus it can accept pay cards, you could say an all in one box of tricks, if it was linuxed based I would be in seventh heaven lol!
If anybody else has recomendations for a HDD that is compatable with a samsung F7000 I would like to know.
    Thx

Yes they can drive a dish and take a cam.

I think mine has only one freeview and one freesat tuner but not 100% sure so I will try and check that out.
