    national lottery BIG RIP OFF

have you seen the prize money paid out this saturday for the £2 a go lottery its a joke & thay say the increase is to offer BIGGER prizes well after the 1st £2 draw dont be suprized if people dont buy & the prizes get smaller

    3 balls paid £25.00
    4 balls paid £90.00

    5 balls paid £1.012
5+bb & 6 ball amount isnt to bad but thats what we play it for

I have stopped doing the UK one because of the price increase and started doing the euro one instead.
I decided that I may as well spend £2 to not win 10s of millions for each ticket as to spend £2 to not win 4 or 5 million for each ticket

That's going to be my response too. I might also have a punt on the Health Lottery as it' still £1.

Really are any of you surprised. The £2 increase has nothing to do with the prizes more of an increase in bonuses for the owners of the lottery. I still don't understand why Richie never got the contract to take it over the last time. I have to say though it's only gone up £1 since it started so it's not to bad. They seem to be of the view that interest in the lottery has dwindled over the last few years. Hmm! change it back then to once a week. No thunderball, hotpicks, Wednesday night just a Saturday. Watch the jackpot go from 2.5 to 10 million plus like it used to be. Milking the public has to stop.

They also said the increase would help them to donate more money to charities. As I recall they have loads of dosh in their coffers. They seem reluctant to fund some really good causes. They also donate money to projects which have nothing to do with charity.

If you not after big money the Hotpicks is still £1.
    3 numbers £450 4 numbers £7000 and 5 numbers £130,000.
But if you put the bet on: on the Irish lottery in the bookies you can get better odds.
IE 3 numbers £610 the bets range from £1 to £5 so if you put a fiver on 3 numbers £3,050 plus your £5 stake back.(Only if you Win)LOL.
    Good luck.

Agree with most of comments but if you play £1 on the irish at betfr&d the odds are.
    1............. 6/1
    2............. 60/1
    3............. 625/1
    4............. 6500/1
    5............. 100000/1
I was very lucky earlier in the year put 4 numbers down randomly and won the £6500.00
The money was in my bank 2 days later. My wife and son play and they have won the £60 a few times. The national lottery in my opinion has shot itself in the foot. The odds are awful.

I have been doing same numbers since it started and when lotto was run Wed and Sat also i did my numbers on both nights but this change to double the price was a step to far. Have now put my money on Health Lottery, strange thing is over the many years of doing the Lotto the £10 wins became fewer and fewer, three weeks ago i won £10 the first for nearly two years may be by doubling the price they have done me favour by convincing me it was time to get out.

I used to bet on the Irish Lottery at the bookies and did quite well on it,you have more chances of winning something.
We do the Euromillions over here.
Doubling the Lotto ticket price is pretty much going to kill it off, people have become fed up with it for years, now they will go elsewhere.

there are 2 other lottos that you can bet on @ betfred thay are the spanish lotto (1.to 49 numbers) & that pays 1 ball £6 2=£66 3+£700 4+£10.000 5=£100.000 or the usa(new york) lotto(1.to 59 numbers) 1=£7 2=£75 3=£1000 4=£17.500 5=£150.000 so has you can see pick 3 match 3 & you can get at least £350 just for 50p

    All gambling is a rip-off.

UK Lotto: You give someone some money and they take a large chunk for admin and profit, then a bit for things that the exchequer should be funding and they give you odds of 14,000,000 to 1 --- great.

If you had put a quid a week into a savings account since it started you would have £988 plus a fair chunk of interest.

i agree with Andy, i do hot pick 2 and 3 numbers also the lotto but now its up till £2 i am not sure about the lotto.
i have got the 3 numbers up once £450 and the 2 numbers £40 about maybe 10 times. after all these years never more than £10 in the lotto.

Interest rates have only been crap since 2007.

Me, I speculate in tins of "corned beef". If it all goes t!ts-up then, at least, I won't starve.
