Samsung TV / Freeview / RF confusion!

I am not too well up on modern tellies! Have a nice Samsung 7000 in lounge but only others use it with the stbs plugged straight in. So bought a Samsung 4500 for 'myself' as all my viewing is via coax run around the house for 4 stbs albeit 1 just to move dish. (I know that won't get HD quality but just want the pictures in SD!). The TV set itself up easily and found loads of channels including 'others' which I assumed to be the stbs. However all I seem to be able to access is the fancy channel guide for Freeview!! No good to me! Anyone know how to access the other set top boxes, on this 4500, that are running around my house via coax please?

depends on the model number, seeing as some only have a freeview tuner inside

although you mentioned 4500 , there are loads of different sizes and versions of the 4500

check your manual and see if it has an an@logue tuner inside it, if it doesnt you are snookered

Thanks for explanation. Spec says Digital Tuner. However word searching 'an@logue' in the pdf manual looks like I might have an appropriate tuner. Thanks for pointer. Much appreciated. I'll trawl through the jargon now! UE32F4500 LED HD 720p Smart TV, 32 Inch with Freeview HD

this does not surprise me as there are no an@logue channels here in the uk so many new tv,s are going digital only

chances are that the manual covers more than one model, so may cover a different model number that does have an an@logue tuner inside

one way round it is to plug in an old vcr and tune the an@logue channels in, and output to the new tv by scart or phono

am surprised you didnt check your proposed purchase had both an@logue and digital tuners inside it , before buying it !

If it has a SCART (which the specs says it does) you can buy Ana1ogue to SCART adaptors but I have a feeling you will be better off finding a digital solution to your distribution system.

Ooops, Ech beat me to it.

Wow! Brilliant solutions. Yes I already use a VHS to distribute but have another VHS doing nothing so will utilise that. Thanks so much. Delighted. (I have spent 18 months trying to find a 32" that fits in the gap below ceiling so that I can view from 2 rooms!! Hence didn't read spec!).
