    you will prob find different models have different s/w updates if you above what the website says i think you are up to date ,alt s/w maybe via usb not ota.

    right enough, I have the UE46ES8000.
    I have 2 Samsung TV,s, a Blu-Ray player, 2 Phones and a Tablet, and no complaints about any of them.

    The 'alternative' s/w option was as well as online and usb options.

    I shall investigate that tomorrow.

    Whilst the picture quality is excellent on HD and 3D, it is not very good watching old repeats such as 'Allo Allo'.

    Anyone know if there is an owners forum for these televisions where tweaks and advice can be obtained?

    no it wont makes a poor quality picture worse , and dont think there is anything you can do about it .

    no that was a poor one to be honest , unless they have changed it, ive still not had time to update mine so im still a good few versions behind.
