Not holding back sales M8. Stats show that people are just not interested in 3D TV. As I said before if its in a particular TV which you like and you buy then so be it. If you can get the same TV without 3D, for less money, I'd go for that. It's like the sat hobby - there's a specific set of people who love it and spend money on it. But 7 million Sly subscribers wouldn't know what you are on about. There's a set of people who really want and appear to love 3D but they are in the minority. I don't think its one-upmanship at all because 3D is as cheap as chips in ordinary TVs. Now if people spend over £5k on glasses - free 3D then that is in the ginger Chris area.

Just read this thread again and am wondering if I have understood something correctly.

At least one person says it has a built in facility for 'freesat'.

So, does that mean I could just connect a satellite cable from a dish and get freesat?

It has a socket for an 'F' connector?

That may well clinch it for me despite the lack of interest from my family.

for those of us that live in the "real world" we dont have to try everything just to know if its good or bad for us

I havent eaten bull s*** either but know I dont want to try it

I havent smoked either, but dont see why I should start just to find out what COPD and emphysema are like !

you have your opinion, and so does everyone else, so dont come on here like a J.W. knocking at the door trying to convert everyone to your tunnel vision way of thinking. the average uk home cannot use an 84 inch projector and neither would myself or others wish to do so. I am not even sure the walls in my hovel are that tall !!!

"plebs" like us have to "make do" with a 40 inch screen (much less than 72 inches) in a corner, which is still more than twice the size of my dads old black and white crt tv when we only had 3 channels to choose from unlike the "andr*w mitchells" of this world who live in mansions. I have seen large screen projectors in pubs and clubs and have never seen one that I thought was ok, never mind "good". just washed out cr*p in MY opinion

I also fail to see why I should wear TWO pairs of glasses to watch tv when I have never even liked wearing ONE pair of glasses to do so and you have got no right to tell me any different

go peddle your biased b*llsh*t ideology somewhere else and try to keep the thread on topic as it was about a samsung tv from what I remember and not your warped ideas on 3d projectors and nonsensical posts about massive tv,s that dont even fit in an average home

quoting other people`s posts and taking the p**s out of them isnt allowed on here so quit doing it. you gave your opinion in one post and so I gave mine in another subsequent post - end of !!

and while I am "at it" keep your political statements off the forum too like your barbed retort from this morning in the "flag and dragons" thread. judging by some of your recent biased posts you dont have the right to "educate" anybody as you cannot claim the moral high ground when you are writing in the gutter on various banned topics here, professor brian cox has earned the right to "educate" people whereas you only have the right to voice your opinion within the rules here, as does everybody else

any more posts had better stick to the actual topic which was about the :-

I was about to post but...DC pipped me to it. Just check that the
model you purchase has dual inputs Freeview HD and Freesat HD.

I have the same model as DC, the 7000, 40" which is large enough
for us and space available. Never bothered with the 3D, though
overall am happy with the Samsung TV. The Smart addition is
handy should you miss a prog using catchup & mine runs well on WiFi.

Mine has an input for external drive for recording or timeslip, but..
can't use USB stick. However.. it accepts a USB stick for updating
    software off the Net.

What I do miss is an external TV out, old Plasma had one. Probably
to stop you recording from the Net. I used to use the TV out for a TV transmitter.

One of the USB inputs is marked for recording/timeslip. You do need power to
the drive. I connected an external drive unit to test. It's possible it could work
with the Laptop external drives that are powered by the USB port. Think my
drive is 32 fat, would have to check with the Samsung info.

The standard USB stick is 32 fat & I DL the Smart TV updates from their site
& load onto stick via PC, then load to TV.

I use a couple of DVD Combies, one with H-Drive so only tested an external drive. Was hoping it would record on screen content from the Net, but...no
    luck, only TV content.

They were supposed to be bringing out an auto updater add on device, not
checked but have you come across it. It was mentioned again when they
    displayed their latest TV.

Are you using the add on Cam device ?

    Regards catoro.

Don't know about the 6800 but the 7000 and 8000 models have a satellite tuner. When I set the TV up I connected my motorised dish and stuck it on 28.2E to get Freesat. Anyway I've just moved the dish to 19.2E and now tuning in free TV channels. Thought I'd mention it because if the 6800 will do the same then the OP might be able to sell the idea to his family.

Why is it not easy to switch from Ariel to Sat?

I have taken the plunge and ordered one.
Will be delivered on Monday morning.

I wanted evidence from more than one source to be sure.

Well done. It's easy to switch. Couple of clicks on the remote.

samsung are noted for their speakers being underpowered i've a 3d 46inch lcd and the picture is stunning but are thinking of up grading with having a triple tuner ultimo all the hd from uk and foreign looks really good, but it all comes down to personal choice
