8.5 out of 10 from me.

For a perfect 10 it needs 2 more tuners and some vfd / lcd picons

probably needed someone to be a bit more subjective in the thread mate, i dont need more than 2 tuners so thats why i gave it a 10 ,i guess the ultimate receiver would have more tuners a better display and maybe a dvd drive built in like the db 8000

I have owned a lot of E2 box's and I would say this is by far the best but not perfect so it gets a 9

More memory, still too low compared with gigablue quad who gets a 10 for me.

Best Receiver I've ever had so far...only disappointment is blindscan and slow scan.
    Deserves 8 out of 10.

I have compared it to my duo on the same image bh2.01 and its a lot faster to boot and lightning fast response, more flash memory and seems to multitask quite easily, the boot time is phenomenal, just like my I7 laptop is using win8 with a 120 gig ssd !

the solo2 doesnt have component out (which I use on my duo as that tv only has 1 hdmi input)

I would say all these boxes deserve more flash memory as I cannot see it costing much to do so, so its time they had it or time you could add it like on a laptop or a pc

never used blindscan but I dont think its fast on any receiver never mind the solo2

due to the physical size it doesnt take a 3.5 inch hdd but my duo does - the solo2 is restricted to 2.5 inch laptop sata hdd drives

to get a 10 from me a box should do all the above , like a duo would if it had more memory and the same faster motherboard,
and also space for either size of hdd (duo) , component out (duo) , rf out like on sly+ , and a third HD dvb-T tuner for freeview too
also wifi access as even many cheap printers have wifi access in these modern times

so for a perfect 10, you can see what it could do with or needs , or would be better if it had..........................

so I go with cokeaddict on 8.5 myself, but its a superb box despite the drawbacks mentioned above, and you did ask

buy one and you wont regret it

I would give my duo an 8 out of 10 because it does have some of the above, but not the faster speed or the extra flash memory for plugins etc
its easy to blow the budget of the duo flash memory with all these plugins, whereas the solo2 has twice the capacity
same goes for the dreamboxes, easy to blow the budget of the flash on a few plugins, and the boxes dont like the flash memory to be over 90%

one thing I do know is the solo2 is a vast improvement on my original samsung 9500 viaci and costs about half the price in real terms

also, I have waited for the "perfect box" ie:- a 10 out of 10 box for more than 10 years and not seen it yet. you would think these manufacturers would build this box that does everything as it would sell by the container load, but they dont, and probably never will

therefore no box will ever get 10 out of 10, but the duo2 may come close when it arrives

blindscan is still coming though i presume or have i missed something ???? i imagine for this to work well we would need a faster scan ,although i dont notice it to be much slower than my old dm800
