    OE 1.6 - /usr/lib/python2.6
    OE 2.0 - /usr/lib/python2.7

    Cheers, pcd.

    OE doesnt mean anything.

its just a way of naming something so users understand.

the important thing is python2.5,python 2.6 or python 2.7

    OE1.6 is always python 2.6

but python 2.7 can be any of the newer images,be it OE2.0 or OE3.0 or even OE3.1 or OE.4.0
it honestly doesnt matter and its just a name the writers give to an image, just to make you think its newer and better than the last.

its not an upgrade, its a reflash and means you need the correct plugins for the new image

Depends on what is being updated. If only .py files it is ok - but binaries like enigma2 or .pyo will not work. 1.6 uses mipsel and 2.0 uses mips32el (mips32el-nf for 800hd).

It will be safer to flash a new image.

    Cheers.

I've noted the info in this thread. However, is there any possibility it may not always be the case? i.e this =>

    OE 1.6 - /usr/lib/python2.6
    OE 2.0 - /usr/lib/python2.7

The reason I ask is that I've got some streaming links setup as 'channels' in my channel list/bouquets. I then attempted to fix this for a couple of buddy's of mine. My understanding was that this was only supported by enigma2 boxes that were oe 2.0.

However, when they check their boxes, they seem to have /usr/lib/python2.7 . Is it at all possible that this isn't a 100% check of the OE?

    Any thoughts would be welcome.
