advice please

i have ordered a ka band lnb to try and receive rte on 9e. i am using a 1.2 channel master offset motorized dish.
i am thinking of swapping my c120 lnb for the ka band with the dish parked at 9e just to see if i can receive
rte channels. then would it be possable to locate an arm on the dish so i could add the ka band beside my main c120 lmb to bounce a signal to receive 9e. any advice on the best sat to park the dish so i could receive 9e. if this fails i have a 1m fixed dish on 39e and 42e with mono block that i could use. a friend told me it could be done but a bit more tricky on a channel master.

I can't find any maps, for the satellite beam, for these channels, do you have links to any?
They are listed as being on the Ireland beam, which could be Saorview, which, from memory, uses a spot beam.

9e 20.185L mpeg4 tight beam on ireland but there is some overspill in wales and probably cornwall with a 1.2m in ireland should be no problem 13e would probably be the best position to park your dish and attach the ka lnb to the right from front i have some arm adaptors here somewhere that could be used for the 9e setup on the channel master i will weather permitting set it up and send you the results is it not possible to receive these channels through your aerial in ireland i used to receive them when the signal was analogue but not tried the digital signal yet

Not that good even on a 1M in Belfast, I’m getting freezing every few seconds right now, Signal 75% and Quality 45%. What is it like in Wales right now?

not tried the rte channels since 2011 when the test cards first appeared i had to locate a hughes ka lnb from usa as there were none available in the uk i have since bought a inverto twin KA lnb but not tried there were some tests done in north wales with a small mini dish with good results

satwyn yes on the 24th in n.ireland we were able to receive rte1 rte2 and tg4 no tv3, the problem is when there is some football on you get a blank screen up here as they encrypt it something to do with uk tv rites? was able to get all 4 on the old analog Ariel but it is now turned off and it was very bad picture, sometimes unwatchable.

A friend of mine did a fair bit of testing on the Isle of Man June this year using the Hughes Ka LNB, and then the Inverto twin, with a similar result, Poor to no signal at all.

I would put the Ka band LNB at centre of the dish. That would insure it was OK in bad weather conditions. Just my penny’s worth.

not practical on a motorised dish you would need the ku lnb at prime focus

My KA LNB is to the right of the c120 KU LNB using a prime focus 1.3 m dish .
This is then sat at 16 East on a FTA channel.
Have not had any dropouts during heavy rain here on the west Wales coast.

13e should also be no problem 6 degree looking from the front of the dish the lnb should be to the right of the prime focus lnb and not left as previously stated

13e was a bit too tight for me to get the lnb alongside the ku one as the flange got in the way --- photo now on previous reply.

yes it would depend on the dish and lnb used worked ok with a hughes ka band lnb
