Dreambox Edit help please.

I have not used Dreambox Edit before & just installed v5.0.0.3. The only
tutorials I can find are Video & in German via prog & "U" know who.

I managed to lift files off 8k but can't display in main widow to edit.
After saving a copy of files have returned them to 8k less the unused
ones which may not be a good idea at this stage.

I have enabled quick buttons but under FTP tab have not put any
Telnet commands in box. Using the file button could see what was in folder.

Show all service box is ticked.

Any help would be appreciated or a source for English information as
stuck at present.

If you save all the files from your DB then you can drag and drop between whatever you want - bouquets,channel lists and satellites. Direct me to the german bits you have trouble with and I can probably translate for you. Good luck - Brain

Thanks for the reply Brain have sent PM with URLs. Expected channels
to auto load to main page. Followed the % bit & have opened VLC in
a folder including path.

Being a Mac person now I just dont use these things on PC and realised I wasnt too au fait since iDreamX especially, and dreambox edit on the mac do so much I had got rusty!! However I do just backup all on the box in both facilities regularly as well as hdd .LOL Brain

@ Brain, thanks for PM. Things may be a bit more complicated as can't
drag anything though can import file on different page.

The new prog is a bit ambiguous in update sheet it says:

"- You have to enable "Multibouquet" on the engima2 box in order to be able to see your bouquets."

There is a setting on prog for enigma 2 & path which I have saved.
However it does say "Box" & can't find any setting in onscreen menu
or in the OS. Cannot get channels on main menu so may have to try
earlier prog until I find out how to do the Multibouquet setting.

Will have to search around but prog sends you to German speaking sites
for information !!!

Thanks Brain, just came up to edit post. You are right but after seeing article on
net realised it had to be in menu. It was under customise & already enabled so that
isn't my problem. Have also enabled quick zap but don't know what that does !!
It is enabled in demo video, am going through all settings to see if anything missed.

To make my question clear. Once you have installed dreamboxEDIT
on PC.

Imported .xml ,channels & info from Dreambox via FTP & DB EDIT to
a folder on PC.

How do you get the contents of the folder ie .xml etc., onto main
page of dreamboxEDIT by the progamme controls to edit channel
list.

Any advice appreciated.

If you link DBedit to your Dreambox via options - profiles - enter DB IP and http to 80 and ftp to 21 - root - dreambox then upload all files from DB into DBedit - receive all files from dreambox via FTP. Then you can edit what you need once you open at 'open'. Once edited you can send all files back to dreambox. is this what you need? BW - Brain

setup dreamboxedit - tools|options
ensure you click on the 'enigma2 settings button'

create directory on pc
file|ftp
receive files from dreambox into the directory you just created.

or
run dreamboxedit
file|open the directory

you should have everything displayed.

if not -download asetthat has been done (say catseye) and try that.

Once there set 'all types' to 'TV' and you can choose the stations you want - just highlight and drag and drop to bouquet needed. You can also right click on service to obtain other options - create bouquets etc. Brain

Thank you for trying to help but my question is still unanswered.

dreamboxEDIT is set to enigma 2.

Once uploaded files go to the folder I created via designated path.

If I click on "file" via progamme interface then "open" it leads me to
correct folder, highlight & click OK. There is a flash on interface as
though something is loading then zilch.

I'm missing something to enable me to open the contents of folder
onto the program interface. All content should be available on main
interface to edit/drag & drop, delete or add picons. I should be able
to play a channel via main interface as path & VLC have been installed.
I need to remove all music channels & scrambled channels I dont need.

You can't drag a file from folder onto interface so it has to be via programme buttons.

So back to my question, how do you load files from folder onto main
interface.

it should happen automatically
when you either open a folder or when you ftp from the box.

your directory should look like this

blacklist
bouquets.radio
bouquets.tv
cables.xml
lamedb
satellites.xml
settings
terrestrial.xml
userbouquet.lots of files - I have over 200 of these

Thanks for the reply Oldfart at least I now know DB EDIT is not
working correctly.

Have opened folder of imported content & same as your list, Blacklist,
Blacklist_org, Bouquets.radio etc.,

When File & Open are selected the flash on screen I referred to is:
"Processing Please Wait" Usually too fast to read.

Few of things tried so far. In Win 7, open as administator.

In XP Pro, DB EDIT versions 4xx & 5xx tried. Can upload from DB
to PC & return content to DB but nothing shown on main interface.

Tried moving Folder to Do***ents/ User & correct path. Normally put
folder in C:\ My PCs are single user & I am Administator.

Carfully gone through German Video to ensure correct settings are used
but unticked remove unused Bouquets.

I have managed to get some channel information on different page
using prog buttons but main page stays empty.

Where I go from here have no idea as tried most things & links
from DB EDIT all lead to German speaking Forums.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It has always had some glitches and one or two I highlightd in a thread a while back - putting r/g/y/buttons behind page and locking up quite often - perhaps that is why I have never even realised what you are looking for. If your german speaking friend cant help. Post me the link and I will see if I can help. Brain

i presume you mean Catoro - I run it on a mac - along with idreamX [a really good prog]and all works well apart from the couple of glitches I mentioned but just wondered if what Catoro was trying to do was not really necessary in the way I run it - BUT I have always been pretty backward in these things, as you know!! how did you install it?
I run it on Winblows7 no problems

I unrarred inside a folder in C: drive & installed via setup.exe. The program installed
without a hitch. Program also is installed in Program Files. On XP I used the fixed
DB EDIT versions & ran from folder to eliminate OS but still didn't work.

If I use import, top of interface I get import individual user page. This shows information, channels etc., If I select "process", channels & Sats appear in right hand
column. If I run down list & click on a channel if live in file it appears in the next
column to the left in red with Bouquet. You can't move them just get use as marker
if clicked upon. Some of the programme is working but still can't load main interface.

Am running a clean Win 7 Ultimate & this one is Legit. I'm baffled as Prog has same
problems on 2 PCs using different versions of DB Edit. Have no problem with DCC or
any other prog on PCs. I find it odd if it doesn't like Black Hole image format files.

I used the profile box name for the folder.

If you have any further suggestion it will be appreciated. I can reinstall prog but
as I have problems on 2 PCs don't think that will help.
