According to my diary, tomorrow is the shortest day. It isn't always 21 December because our calendar normally has 365 days in a year, but the earth actually takes a quarter of a day longer to complete an orbit of the sun. Those extra quarter days since the last leap year in 2008 are enough to shift the date of the solstice, but the extra day in the leap year of 2012 will put it back to 21 December.

the sun dies for 3 days and is then resurrected . surly you know the story .

so for 3 days the sun does not rise or fall in the sky untill it is born again on the 25th .

you will know when the sun will rise as the 3 kings ( orions belt )will aline ( or follow ) the star in the east ( sirrius ) to mark the coming of the new sun .

long before written language , the oldest story was there for all to read in the stars .
