Icon7 How to install E2 - a guide (running from USB stick)

Note: The first part of the procedure requires a serial cable but its simple to do.

    FIRST PART - preparing icecrypt
Download, Extract and Install AAF recovery tool, 4.6 (ART) from here:

    https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthrea...902#post812902

    Shutdown your Icecrypt.

Connect serial cable from your Icecrypt - PC.

Format a USB memory stick FAT32, and Copy the file “uflasherHDbox.app” from the C:\Program Files\AAF Recovery tool AV7000 directory into the root directory to the USB stick. (I will call this the ART folder now)

Plug in the USB stick into the front USB port of your Icecrypt.

Run ART, click "CONNECT" and POWER ON icecrypt - it should all become active if successfully connected

Click on the "Maxi U-boot Install" tab and tick "Load from USB device" and click the button "Install Maxi Uboot 1.31 rev 1.1"

This replaces your original bootloader, in order to be able boot from not only the default flash image, but USB sticks or HDD partitions.

NOTE: You can always go back to the original bootloader if you want.

Connect again, and this time, go to the “Maxi bootdesc Defaults” pane and click at “Set Defaults” to set the default bootargs. NOTE: If your receiver is has the internall HDD, tick the checkbox for “Internal Sata” and click on "SET DEFAULTS"

Now disconnect, and reboot your box

You will see when it starts the it says maxiboot, and then defaults to the normal flash image, but using the remote control, you can cycle through other boot options such as USB1, USB2, Flash, etc etc.

    You can close ART now.

    SECOND PART - installing image

This next part you do over the network, LAN or WLAN (not serial cable)

Boot up the Icecrypt normally and go to a channel.

Format a USB stick FAT32 (you can use the one from earlier) - (this will hold your E2 images on) and INSERT it into your Icecrypt.

Download, extract and install "AAF-Maxiboot-Installer-1.5" from the same link above.

Once installed, run it, and enter the IP address of your Icecrypt in the Network, IP-adres box, and the gateway.

    In Telnet Username: root
    Telnet Password: nopassword (enter nothing)

    Click Connect

After a short time, it should list the internal HDD and the USB stick under the "USB/HDD" tab

You should see /dev/sda (internall HDD) and /dev/sdb (USB stick)

Select /dev/sdb and rightclick at /dev/sdb, choose “Partitioning” to create partitions on the USB stick.

Select the number of partitions you want to create, the size and the filesystems, and click “OK”.
Choose 2 partions. (1 should be EXT2 and called MINI1, 2 should be SWAP and Fat32)
Note: if the USB stick contains already partitions, they will be destroyed.

    Restart the Icecrypt

Load up Maxiboot Installer, and connect again.

On the left select /dev/sdb, and on the right it should show the partitions.
Select /dev/sdbx/ entry and choose “Mount"

Now select INSTALL, and browse for your image - i recommend the PKTeam NIBURU v2 Image, found here:
    https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthrea...ibiru_V2_Image

Select OK to the warnings, and thats that!!

Now reboot your Icecrypt and on the remote when you see FLASH on the VFD display, press the up arrow until you see USB-1 or USB-2, and OK, and it should then boot your image !!!!

When you get more adventurous, you could try running E2 off the internal HDD like i do, using
    STEVE_M's guide here:
    https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthrea...n-Internal-HDD

    THATS IT!

hmmm, i had mixed results when using one of those, it didnt always interupt the boot when in ART tool.

using native serial cable (and port on old laptop) worked everytime.

You can install an e2 loader from Usb, you dont need serial. You'll have to look on the German forum for the latest version.

    Nice effort on the guide

i strongly recommend changing image to the AAF SUMMER2011 image now...
    https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthrea...-download-here

crossepg (xml) working, (comes with .6.1, but .6.2 is available) so that gives you 7 day EPG, there are some decent PICONS out there too, and MGCAMD135 working well.

the INFINTY HD skin is really nice too, and gives a very good E2 experience.

cooltvguide works, but is too slow, the built in graphicalEPG is good enough.

    IMDB doesnt work tho
    :(

u can use this https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthrea...!!-At-last-ech plugin now instead instead of the doing the first part of this thread)

after the plugin is installed, and run, i.e once your bootloader is modified to maxiboot....just jump to the "SECOND PART" of this thread...
