HD tv price

anybody know why the hd tv prices have almost halfed on some models??

Anyway, this is the rule since long time, i'm in the business since a few years.

LED taking over from LCD. Some freeview models are not HD Freeview. These sort of things lower the price on the older models.

Non LED LCD TVs are being offloaded as the LED ones come on stream.

I can't tell the difference* but the LED ones use a bit less power.

[* The marketing peeps say the LED ones produce a more vivid picture].

Yes I think improved backlighting adds to the vividness. Of course LED screens are thinner or as my Granddad would say tinner. But he died many years ago so that was pointless.

If you wait until Xmas time they probably will be cheaper still, old stock out, new stock in.

The arrival of superHD in the next 6 months or so. 2160P. Great so all that lovely equipment everyone has bought will be obsolete. Personally I think it's a crock of sh**. It's taken the uk nearly 6 years to get its lazy ass into gear with 1080i HD. Would anyone really be buying their dvd/bluray collection in a yet another higher resolution format, I think not.

I agree that it is a crock of ****. The big improvements for me were widescreen and then LCD flat screens. So much of today's over-hyped HD is just up-scaled SD.

As some one who serviced CRT colour TVs the LCD was a dream - no more pin-cushion correction or RGB convergence.

i have had my LG LCD HD tv 1 year now, its 47" and i class it as the 9th wonder of the world...

The English language has more words than almost every other one. Even the most unlikely words are probably in an English dictionary somewhere.

The latest Oxford English Dictionary has 171,476 current words and a further 47,000 obsolete ones. Added to that there are also some 9,000 derivation words.

Needs culling IMHO.

You must be looking at the Concise or Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, which contain only the commoner words. The full Oxford English Dictionary (which used to come in 14 large volumes when I was at school) has passed 1,000,000 words.

ive had this conversation with a friend of mine , he could not understand how one language has more words than another .

but due to our well conquered past and huge continuous immergration community , we have by far the most words of any language .
