    E2 guide pre-requisites \ satpimps user survey.

before i spend some considerable time making a guide.

do you want me to do a guide for E2 using a memory stick, or internal HDD (preferable)

the HDD option, still allows you to boot up to ori firmware anyway.

also, do you all have a laptop \ computer with a comms port, and a serial cable? this is a must, this cannot be done just with usb!

let me know, also, thank me so i get an idea of how many people actually want to E2 their Ice's

i wont post anything before clearing it with COLDASICE

i will check back tomorrow, and do the guide on saturday probably....zzzzzzz

Now that I have been thru the whole process myself (USB and flash E2 versions), I would give it another go installing E2. This is providing the flash cleaner will improve the reception of my 13.0 HD channels. I do like E2, that's why I spent so much time trying to get it to work. If there was a clear, step-by-step guide available how to install it to hdd, I would probably attempt it at some point. I know that there is a guide around, but if not for ManikM's assistance :respect-058: I would not be able to install E2. So I vote YES!

well , I didnt want to hi jack the thread seeing as I put my views forward yesterday on other threads , and I also got shot down over the use of the thanks button for files and plugins etc without actually going ahead and trying them out ( even though there were no installation instructions )

I did actually wonder how you tested the original firmware seeing as you were on E2 , and I would have liked to know how easy it was to go back to original from e2

I also asked about divx and mkv playback , nobody replied at all

to make informed choices we need all the facts and suitable testing feedback including easy and full reversion back to original firmware

but if I were to try it and hdd was better , then as I have fitted my own 500 gig hdd then hdd it would be

its the total lack of feedback on the webif , divx and mkv playback , and sundry other issues raised that leave mine on the back burner

you only have to look at the issues raised by me in the last few days to see that no feedback causes apathy

even the glossary of terms I asked for produced one reply ( yours ) and wasnt complete , as I was under the impression that some of the plugins were used for more than 1 task , so mcas for card decryption as well as softcams or whatever

lastly , I dont want the above issues clouding this thread with replies , so can anyone with a view on issues that are not to do with this thread please answer in the correct threads , thank you

I would be interested in seeing a good tut on how to E2 your S4000 but a safe return path is a must, and it must include the original bootloader.
I've done it the old bootloader flash way which made my starfish twitch a little and the early E2 was totally pants.
Don't fancy doing again unless there is a safe return path.
