    Icon2 +++ Vu+ DUO vs Clarke-Tech ET9000 +++

Holding back buying new HD receiver for several months waiting for the new replacement for the Vu+ Duo, but after looking at the forthcoming Vu+ Ultimo specs and the price of around £550+, i have decided it's not worth the wait and the extra £200+ .

    So my choices are:

    1- Vu+ DUO
    2- Clarke-Tech ET9000 (Xtrend)

I need your help and experience to decide which one of them is the better HD receiver in terms of:

1- Picture Quality in HD and SD (the most important, specially in SD)
2- To be fast, stable and reliable in operation
    3- No overheating and lockups
4- Good support and multiple stable images and plug-ins
5- Good and reliable CS and networking operation
6- Responsive and good quality remote control
7- Good and reliable PVR function
    8- Multi channels recording
9- Trouble free DiSEqC 1.2 operation - V-box II to 36v motor to CM 1.2m dish
    10- Sensitive tuners

I know the futures of both boxes and they both cost the same at about £330

I need an honest opinions from people who have/had both of them and got the chance to compare them side by side.

I would like a comparison between the 2 receivers and their pros and cons.

    Thank you all in advance

Vu+ needed an SE - that tells a story...

OK, we are talking twin tuner function included, obviously...

Well, from what I read on the topics (sure, I am getting ready, too)...

CT9000 gives more for the money [cheap in Holland].

DM8k can't do that much for much more money...

Having said that, I still might have to keep my AZbug HD for some multimedia, however buggy...

Maybe together they might do a good job for both Sat TV and multimedia [streaming to and from them etc.]...???

Not my idea of a multimedia centre - in 2 parts but hey... IF it works...

    Let us prey, dear flock...

    why Not the 800se ?
With the new Hybrid Tuners, you can have 2X DVB/S2 plus a Usb terrestrial Tuner !
For litle more of 330£ you can get one.

The DM800se have only one tuner while I need a receiver with 2 DVB/S2 tuners hence the choice between the DUO and the ET9000

Vu+ Ultimo has the same hardware like CT-ET9000 .
if you want new sat reciver then go for CT-ET9000 , and the support forum is
    realy good .
and the price is amazing now .
the Picture Quality in HD and SD it's like my Coolstream HD and it well be better .

and here is my device info :

    Code:
    Device Information

    Device & Versions
    Devicename: dm800se
Enigma Version: May 9 2011-(no branch)
    Image Version: unavailable
    Frontprozessor Version: VNone
    Webinterface Version: 1.6.8

    Tuners
    Tuner A: AVL2108 (DVB-S2)
    Tuner B: AVL2108 (DVB-S2)
und here some news from the new driver update :
    Code:
There is a preannouncement about new drivers for the ET9000

    Be carefull:
Because the memory structure is changed the drivers will not work good in older build images. You have to wait till the drivers are available with the new build.

The first test I made with the new drivers are very great.
All media issues in driver seems to be fixed and it looks like through the AC3+ support it's one of the best E2 media box available.

Blindscan is activated in the box and the scans seems very fast compare with other boxes. I don't know to much about feedhunting but so far I see it has very high potention!!

Recording 7 different HD channels + PIP/Iframe HD + Timeshift is working without problems.

You should get some info about the new Hybrid Tuners from Dmm !
They were presented on anga, on 800se with 2 kinds of tuners :
    1 - is a Double dvb/s2 (just one slot/socket for 2 tuners)
    2 - is a Double dvb/t- dvb/c (same just one slot for 2 tuners)

You can see it if you google "hybrid tuner dreambox", some resellers are already selling it.

Photo of the hybrid cable/terrestrial on sale now !

    I certainly am not.

"Tune failed"! Sounds familiar? Constant revisions of especially tuners - never heard of?!?

Too hot, HW faults [like missing a capacitor], having to go to SE of a model, from PSU to tuner changes etc. etc.

These are all well do***ented, measured and proven. No need for a new discussion about it, just read a round, even on this forum, so need to search too much...

Now i invested on 800se, also never seen such problem !
My 7020 is runung since 6 years, 24/7/365, not a problem until now !
Next investement is the 7020hd, money is almost ready

And offcorse CT9000 is perfect, not a single problem , they just copyed what is allready runing since years.

Not what I hear about DM8000 - crap tuners...

DM800 had to have SE, tuners got "revisited", apparently.

Btw, did you ever hear about a certain DBox2 little project? Apparently a certain Enigma ran on it...

Who mentioned perfection? But all that ET9k gives for considerably less money - sure, bring it on! And no, E2 is Open Source, plus drivers they had to write themselves...

So, no hard feeling, no... Just less hard-earned cash for more! See the image above and grieve!

    Question

Btw, pas - do tell about those "hybrid" tuners, please...

Single or Twin LNB needed? How does that function? I can't see the thread on those LNB in/out ports, on the photo you provided.

It looks like a tuner to be shoved into a PC or TV motherboard - terrestrial or cable, not Sat TV. In which case I can understand what's going on with it. No "out", just 2xIN.

Is recording a channel from a different transponder than the channel/transponder you watch at the time possible or not, if it is a single LNB [although, that seems impossible to me]?

PiP? Also, the same question, as above, if SE has PiP...

What I could find was this:

Also on show will be a prototype DVB-S2 tuner capable of taking two inputs at once and an integrated hybrid DVB-T/cable tuner for the DM500 HD and DM800 HD.
One more thing: 1080p available or not with SE? Upscaling?

How's multimedia on it, generally speaking?!? Streaming to and from it, at high resolution/demanding stuff, like MKV 1080 files?

    Thanx!:respect-051:
