How to setup a Spiderbox 5000SD and other important information

Ok it's a simple matter to setup the 5000SD first you will need three files.
    File 1 The latest patch.
File 2 A channel list (or you can scan your own satellites).
    File 3 The latest softcam

Ok download the files, unzip or unrar them and copy them into a memory stick (any size will do the files are not very big).
Pop the stick into the USB socket on the top panel of the receiver (it's covered by a rubber plug pull the plug out of the socket).
Press menu and use the down arrow on the remote to step down to Utility, step right using the right arrow then down to usb now press ok.
Find the patch file (e.g. Spider_Magic_2.14_SPI.ups) and press Ok, select S/W Upgrade and press Ok now it's important you do NOTHING until the receiver reboots NEVER INTERRUPT a download once started as it's possible to corrupt a receiver doing this.

Ok your receiver is now patched lets get a channel list into it, you can scan your own channels or use any suitable list if using a ready made list that you copied onto your stick then:
Step down to Utility then right then down again to USB press Ok and select the channel list then Ok again.
You will get the message "Load user channels data success System will reboot" and OK will be highlighted so press OK this will take about 20 seconds.
Right you now have a channel and favourite list which you can edit to suit your preferences and dish installation.

If you are motorised you will need to adjust the longitude and latitude to match your location, this is easy peasy just press menu, select satellite search (if asked for a password it's 0000 at this stage) and press green set the Motor type to either USALS (preferred) or DiseqC 1.2 depending on your motor type and press green again.
You can now enter your Longitude and Latitude if you don't know them then Google earth and enter your post code. Don't forget to select east or west when entering your settings west is shown as a minus figure for example -0.2 would be 0.2 west and 0.2 would be 0.2 east.

Finally send the latest softkey, exactly the same way as the patch and channel list.

Ok your receiver is basically working just a few more simple adjustments and were away, now connect an Ethernet cable from the receiver to your router and press menu, go down to options and you will see four entries OSD Setup, Control Panel, Time adjust and Parental Lock using the remote control just enter 1111 and network will appear.
Go right then down to Network then Ok, you will see IP setup highlighted press Ok and check that the network Setting says Auto if not use the right arrow key and select Auto.
Press exit once and go down to Net Application and press Ok, Type should be highlighted and press Ok again and select Dream/NuevoXstreamXstream if this is not already showing now press Ok again now exit three times.

At this stage I carry out a reboot, to do this press the Fn key on the remote select Reboot and press Ok then wait.

Ok there are various user settings screen size menu transparency and so on you will find these in options and OSD setup but their not that important for now.

NB:- no boxkey can be entered in the smartcard section due to a lack of processing power to deal with it
