If you know your box ip, just type it on internet explorer !
Something like http://dreamip and enter, but if you know the ip, you can also use dreamup.

Just tried connecting dreambox on network no luck. Completely dead except for green light. With my pc not having any coms ports ie null/rs232 connections and therefore dreamup refusing to install. My only option seems to be to buy a usb to rs232 lead. Would dreamup recognise this and then install? Any help would be greatly apreciated

Yeah mate...I had the very same problem with the eagle software the 232 will sort your problem out. There's been many times on even the 800 when you can't flash vis the network connections, but dream up with the null modem will work 100%.

If you're near the liverpool area, bring it to ours and I'll do it for you, save you buying a usb to serial lead

Thanks for the offer but im in manchester with no transport. Will buy a lead then do some reading, never flashed before. Will the dreamup software recognise the usb as a coms port?

    HiMing
Dont know if this will help - i thought all were web flashable and searched for some info - wondered if this might be possible

    for 500+

I think the dm500+ is not equipped with a display, so the received IP-address from
your dhcp-router will be "morsed" by the leds of it.
Boot the box normally, then go into the network-configuration and note which
IP-address the box receives by dhcp. Under this address the box will be
reachable over the network in flash-mode

To start 500+ in flash mode. unplug the power to your dreambox hold the power-button of the dreambox while switching it on .then replug the power keep hold the button to the screen go gray .then open firefox - best, or [internet explorer] and add your dreambox ip like this http:/192.168.104/upgrade.dhtml

On this page, you can select the flash image you want to flash. be sure that it has the ".nfi" extension.

You can't flash other images (like .img)!
Click on "FLASH!" and wait. It might take some time to upload and flash the image.
Switch the box off again, and on again. The new image should be flashed and working
I am not sure if the 500 is exactly as the 500+. Worth a try. Good Luck - Brain

I had problems 6 month ago. Left it in the garage for months then tried to flash and hey presto it flashed. I had even bought a extra box.

The box is completely dead apart from the green power light and will no longer connect to network. So was only left with coms port option but even that seems to be failing with dreamup

    Flashing

You may have already tried this but I cant tell. All Dreamboxes have times like this and just turning off doesnt work. A complete unplug and leaving for a minimum of overnight can work wonders - there is a residual current which needs to be drained off from the processor to clear memory and this takes several hours. If you havent tried worth a go - otherwise it looks like the garage. Good Luck - Brain
