I believe the key to understand the problems with HD channels is the bitrate.
I low bitrate will give you a very poor HD display no matter the resolution.
Different providers use different resolutons AND bitrate, sometimes cannot compare.
Maybe if you load bitrate plugin and also report the bitrate of the channel in question, then will be easier to understand why this is happening.

Das Erste HD/ZDF HD: OK
Sky Germany HD: Not OK
Anixe HD: Not OK
BBC HD: OK
I got external cardreader (ftdi) working, and newcs as cardreader, and cccam as descrambler.
1. copying drivers to /lib/modules/2.6.22.19-19-the_ripper/extra/
2. depmod -a
3. mknod /dev/ttyUSB0 c 188 0
4. modprobe usbserial
5. modprobe ftdi_sio
6. Plugged in smargo and a valid smartcard.
P+ with 1tb intern
E2 on usb-stick (2 gig).
Run smooth.
Picture HD/SD fine (23.5 C+ NL)
Sound is sometieme's gone but "resolution" button does the job.
Multimedia player: MP3 ok / MKV ok / Avi not ok.
Sometime's Cogs of death with zapping/ wakeup after standby and medialayer.
Good improvement in compare with RTI 1.0.1.
Thanks team keep up the good job.
any on install project valeria in 1.0.2
Is 1080p possible on Premium+ with Movie player?
I have edited this line in bootup .......
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.22.19-19-the_ripper/extra/em8634dvb.ko options="-analog -f PAL_BG -digital -f HDMI_1080p50 -hdmi_chip $hdmichip 0 14 15 100 0"
My TV still only reports 1080p MKV movies as 720p
Is there something else I need to change?
Editing the above line actually stops the Premium + from booting, so maybe P+ can't do 1080p

R U sure you've used some unix editor, coz it looks to me you haven't...
have here an HD+ (nagra card) running and i have to use oscam, because newcs can't handle this card.
card is recognized, initialized and everything goes well and i can decramble the channels, but after few minutes i am always getting this message:
2010/12/05 21:14:14 2BF214A0 r TIMEOUT in IO_Serial_Write
then i have to restart the emu and after few minutes i am getting the same message again and again...
someone had this already?
i am using an phoenix smartcard programer with usb-seriall adapter, with pl2303 chipset...i have this combination already running under original firmware, with same oscam configs, so it should run without problems, but is doesn't...
I've only just tried this version today, but found the media player a joke.
MKV 1080p DTS file lost audio sync, and the gears kept coming into play.
Eventually the audio gave up completely and had to abandon watching the movie altogether.
DTS does not seem to work either as I only got PCM audio.
i can see its still fun and games in getting the E2 right!!!lol mabe il get a good birthday present and it might be sorted by march next year??great work ripper and team but image just isnt right for me to use it 24/7 just yet!!!
Hi triplexxx
It downloads ok but still does not load backdrops tryed various versions with initial crash so loaded the fix from htmls (thanks loads for this)which fixes the crash but no joy.
I know it sort of worked with alfa release so maybe somethings have been changed in python or something else from previous versions maybe htmls may know what's missing or DS team could bring out newer version as media player player works fairly well with some minor probs (Well done to Ripper and team)

AVI’s and MKV’s are multimedia containers, capable of holding many different formats. It does matter what’s inside of the container (what type of video/audio codecs have been used). Then come other (of no less importance) issues: video resolution, aspect ratio, frame rate, video bit rate, audio sampling freq, number of audio channels, audio bit rate, etc. Hence the reason for some beta-testers being able to successfully play AVI’s and whatnot, while the others couldn’t play the same formats at all.
I did some testing and current E2 media player plays well AVI’s composed of:
video: DivX 5/6
audio: MP3
Also, I tried Full HD MKV with video H.264/AVC and two audio tracks (the same audio, but in two different formats: DTS and AC3). With DTS audio couldn’t play longer than 5 secs. When selected the other audio track (AC3 5.1) all went well – it was a Metallica live gig taken from a Blue-Ray disc.
