    E2 1.0.25 - Test report

    Hi,

I think it is the good time to start a new thread to report bugs discovered with E2 1.0.25. So let's go:

Satellite scan is working in this version but DiseqC support, as mentioned by the team, is not yet fixed. So if you have a DiseqC A/B configuration you can only scan the default sat (for example Hotbird if it is set to DiseqC-A).

    1°) Upgrade not possible from E2 1.0.21 to E2 1.0.25
And indeed I also confirm that it is not possible to switch from E2 1.0.21 to E2 1.0.25 without going back first to the original firmware (0.9.5020 for example).

2°) No more sound in .vob file via Scart (didn't test via HDMI)
For me there is a regression in the multimedia part, since the .vob I test in previous version was playing fine with sound and I have no more sound with this latest version. My Azbox is connected via Scart (no HMDI).

    Code:
    General
    Complete name : G:\test\thx_the_simpsons.vob
    Format : MPEG-PS
    File size : 24.8 MiB
    Duration : 34s 468ms
    Overall bit rate : 6 035 Kbps

    Video
    ID : 224 (0xE0)
    Format : MPEG Video
    Format version : Version 2
    Format profile : Main@Main
    Format settings, BVOP : Yes
    Format settings, Matrix : Default
    Duration : 34s 468ms
    Bit rate mode : Variable
    Bit rate : 5 467 Kbps
    Nominal bit rate : 8 260 Kbps
    Width : 720 pixels
    Height : 480 pixels
    Display aspect ratio : 16:9
    Frame rate : 29.970 fps
    Standard : NTSC
    Color space : YUV
    Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0
    Bit depth : 8 bits
    Scan type : Interlaced
Scan order : Top Field First
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.528
    Stream size : 22.5 MiB (91%)

    Audio
    ID : 128 (0x80)
    Format : AC-3
    Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
Mode extension : CM (complete main)
    Duration : 34s 336ms
    Bit rate mode : Constant
    Bit rate : 448 Kbps
    Channel(s) : 6 channels
    Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE
    Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
    Bit depth : 16 bits
    Stream size : 1.83 MiB (7%)
3°) Mediaplayer skins is wrong when used on a 16:9 format CRT screen.

I start it with the parameter in bootup:

    Code:
    insmod /lib/modules/2.6.22.19-19-the_ripper/extra/em8634dvb.ko options="-analog -f PAL_BG -asp 16 9"
That's the only way to have a 16:9 aspect ration on the SCART.
In this format the Mediaplayer skin is still buggy, I miss the left and right part of the Mediaplayer window.

    4°) RCU key mapping question

RCU: TV/Radio key is mapped to TV channel list
Resolution is mapped to Radio channe list

    Is it the expected behavior?

5°) RCU Check/Select button gives access to audio channel selection, but when switching to another language no sound, even if we come back to the original sound still no sound. A good FTA channel to test this is Euronews.
Test done on Hotbird 13° E.

Great review @pr2! I'm sure more reviews like these will help the team

btw... maybe this could help you about mediaplayer skin. In mediaplayer try the default skin, and not the skin made for Azbox

    1) That will fix telesat
    2) sattomy doesnt have right now free time to work on gstdvbmediasink plugin so dont expect soon fix, I will ask him to publish source code here and what he changed in that plugin so someone else can continue.
    3) For now thats the only way changing anything regarding video output/size, have other priority's right now.
    4) Yes
    5) STC Sync isnt activated for audio/video so changing audio to different pid, or playing same audio pid for a while will lost audio.

    @The_Ripper,

Thank you for all the informations.
If I can help in any way just ask...

    @O_o

Yes I already know that changing the skin fix the problem, I already report it myself in the never ending thread. But anyway thanks to have reply it here so if somebody read it, he will know the work around too.

    @ the_Ripper

Great great job for all the team.
    Just have a question:
Is anyone of you working to sort out the vfd display (mean it's E2 drivers) to have channels names on it like original firmware?

    Thanks for your support.:respect-040:

I know isnt a essencial thing, but will be supported too in E2 for Azbox's?? I like a lot to see the channel name there :302:

I can try to give it a hand, but I'm not a profissional coder... so I dont know how much can I give for the project

But, I can try and look around to see if I get some stuff to work about VFD display.

    Thanks once again

You can use DCC (a dreambox tool)

FTP CCcam.mipsel into /usr/bin ,rename to CCCam ,chmod 755 (right click > attributes > check 755)
    FTP CCCam.cfg into /etc
    edit CCcam.cfg accordingly.

    To start it
telnet into the azbox and type
    CCcam &

If you want to debug what CCcam is doing type

    CCcam -dv &

Press menu button and in the menu on-screen you have another menu with the option to set the box into stand-by. But once in stand-by I think that there is no key predefine to wake it up.

You cannot write in /var/etc by the way,you won;t be able to put any script there.
E2 use a simlink /var/etc to /etc so naturally,it works if you put things in /etc

You can put your scripts in /usr/bin chmod755 and call the script from anywhere, even from remote.

    Hello again.

Well, I think I need just a little help. I'm trying to find some source code for VFD display from another receivers that use enigma2, but I cant find it correctly I think. For VFD display, I should look inside Plugins in python folder, right?

    Thanks
