    What is the root-password?

    Hello,

I have got the web-interface up and running and now I want to make it secure by authenticating.

However I cant find anywhere where the password for the root-user is mentioned.

    What is the default root-password?

I thought it would be dreambox (I have read that somewhere), however that does not work. Not even if I telnet to the machine.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance! :-)

If you haven't set one - there isn't one.
To set one - telnet into the box, then type passwd

    Hello,

I have not set one myself.

I have tried to telnet the box, where it asks for a user-login. I type in "root" as username, and when I try blank password or password dreambox is says that the login is incorrect.

What can I do to login?

looks like you are going to have to download and install tuxbox commander from your remote and delete the existing password using that, although i do believe there is a plugin that does this too,but if its not on your download server then you wont be able to use it because if you cannot login then you cannot FTP the plugin across to your box.
its either that or reflash your image.Ian.

How do I delete the existing password with Tuxbox Commander? Is it a file I have to delete or edit?

1.install tuxbox commander using addons button
    2. Start tuxboxcomander
3.go to in /var/etc/ and open the file passwd
4.press 4 on remote to go into edit mode.
    The first line is root:*****:0:0:root:/home/root:/bin/sh
where the ****** delete it (by using remote arrows to move cursor right and then pressing volume minus)
    delete *** until upto :0:0:root

and press ok and exit -> save

the first line should look like this after the edit
    root::0:0:root:/home/root:/bin/sh

then use telnet to login with user root and password leave empty and create your new password from telnet.Ian.
