    e2 whats the big deal

    hi all just started reading thrreads in azbox section again after months,excuse my ignorance but whats e2 gonna give us that our normal firmware doesnt thanks guys

    1) Good platform with readily made apps.

    2) SInce the manufacturer has stumbled so long , with E2 there will be software which is controlled by the community. The life of Az will be in the users hands.

    3) Dream about bugfree system....

    Well I think points 1 and 1 are enough and for 3 , atleast the bugs are taken care much faster.

    thanks for that, does that mean that something written for e2 on say a dreambox works on the azbox then

    Not as simple as that I think.

    You may need the correct drivers etc, so conversions may still be needed as hardware architecture is different.

    Yes, it is supposed to.
    Softcams, plugins, channels list, etc should work the same way.
    And this is possible because the SIGMA chipset uses a MIPS CPU, the same as any dreambox with E2.
    So the software is supposed to work without being recompilated.

    Of course we don't know how E2 from The_Ripper and his team is (in a final stage), it might not be 100% compatible with card reader softcams or some plugins because it might miss some libraries or some API that is hard to port to azbox hardware.

    We will have to wait to see.

    native cccam worked ok in alpha1, detected as dreambox7020.

    Maybe detects dreambox 7025, right?
