How to use play movies stored on PC?

    Hi

I have been reading through all the manuals and posts, but cannot find how to use the 500HD as a media player. I have a few movies stored on my PC but I cannot see the DM on my windows network? What doI need to do?
I have enabled upnp client/server on the DM.

Would be very grateful for any advice.

    Many thanks

Do you want to see your pc movies from your dm, your dm from your windows network, or both?

Also what image are you using?

    Share your movies folder

From your dm choose Blue button -> settings -> automount editor -> yellow button for new

Give it a mountname, this is what appears later on at the media player menu so choose whatever name you like, at the type field choose cifs, if you have put a username and a password for the shared folder type them in, otherwise leave these fields as is, at the server field type the ip of your pc where your shared folder exists, and at the share field type in the name of you movies folder or whatever you are sharing. Save the settings (green button) and you are done. Go to media player and you will see your shared folder under network mount

Jimrare - thanks for this. I did as you said, but when I go into the media player it is empty. It just says parent directory.

Under type, where I selected "cifs", there is options - I have selected rw in there. Is that correct?

I have a username and password for logging into my pc, so I have put this into the username/password field.

Not sure why its not working...

    Windows 7 is a bitch .. I use XP for a fileserver.
You have to set up a user in W7, then use that to log in from the DM.
Don't forget the file settings that you want to share ......
Its all down to W7 network & user security.

No, the username and password refers to the shared folder
