    TV facts question

Hi was about to Buy a new tv for the kitchen yesterday but the guy in the shop advised me i was looking at the wrong TV. iIdid not buy his reason so any help would be good as to the facts.

1 TV is for the kitchen its quite a big kitchen 22' X 13' with the table end facing SW so get loads of sun from mid morning to sunset via fully double glazed sliding doors and windows floor to ceiling

    So i decided on a Panasonic TX-L37G10b

Reason. It has Freesat and as my area is not great for freeview till switchover in 2012 so i saw freesat as a must.

Lcd all reports said LCD was better than Plasma if in a sunny area

The guy in the shop said both plasma and lcd is no good for a kitchen and I needed to buy Led, but the led tv's did not have freesat built in.
I cannot find out why led would be better for a kitchen, I undestand the not so shinny screen on a lcd.

Am iImissing something or was he a idiot?

    thanks

    Sounds like BS to me.

So called 'LED' tvs are actually LCD panels, but with LED backlighting instead of fluorescent. I don't think there's any discernible difference in viewing properties.

He gets more commission on LED TV's

Salespeople exist to sell product at the best price, making as much commission as possible. If they don't they won't last long in the job...

You should have asked him "why?"

LED is same as LCD, just with different backlighting.

LED TV's usually more expensive and get's the sales people more bonus as others have said.

So it was rubbish. thought i had done my homework.

Prontopro: it was a local chain called Bennetts I prefere to buy local and help keep the shops alive, even if it does cost a bit more. But only for service this they have not done here so they wont get the purchase.

    thanks

Not forgetting the extended warranty that costs as much as the TV over 4 years...

...and the "special" finance deal, a snip at 45% APR...

...and "Would sir be interested in a store card?"
