Decent alternative to Levi 501's ?

    Hi All ,

I've bought 501's for most of my adult life . I usually buy them when I'm in Canada or in the States as I "thought" that the quality was better .

When I bought my last 3 pairs about 6 months ago I noticed that the tags said "Made in Mexico" . I don't know how long they've been made there but the attached photo shows what's happened to them in about 6 months . And that's not constant wear as I rotate them . It's probably about 10 washes and 60 days of wear . It's not just one pair . It's happening to them all . Basically the crotch is falling off them . They used to last me 1.5 to 2 years .

Anyway , I'm looking for a change . Can anyone recommend an alternative for about £50/pair ?

    Sammy

I wear Diesel jeans, problem is they are a bit more than £50 a pair.

I have never thrown a pair out yet as they last for years.

I only ever wore Levi's because I saw Roger Daltry wearing them in 1970.
Now, it's not Levi 501, but Tesco 4.99.

If you don't mind try the ones offered by Lands End (just sell over the Internet). They are in America and here in Britain. They offer them in three fittings, and I suspect one of them will match the 501. I buy their relaxed fitting and last me over a year.

They still sell shrink-to fit in the US _http://www.dillards.com/endeca/EndecaStartServlet?Ntk=all&Nty=1& N=1000301&Ntt=levi+501

And still only $35+tax a pair --- plus they sell all the odd sized waists as well.

I went off 501s because they're too narrow. Had about 6 pairs that went into a charity bag.

My favourite jeans at the moment are by Paco - I got them at TK Maxx a couple of years back and are still going strong. I'd like another pair, but never see the same type twice in that shop.

Never been a big fan of Lee Cooper - but I got a pair of them a month back and they are really comfortable - and seem quite durable.
