Good or bad luck??
Driving the wife and grandaughter on a local B road in the dark wednesday we came round a sharp bend going quite slowly as a lorry was coming the other way with its headlights full on taking the white line. So I had to keep well over. Sods law a tree had fallen with one quite thick branch sticking out about a foot over the verge. Could'nt see it in the headlight glare.
Took my wing mirror clean off. Bad luck?
If it had been sticking out two feet I reackon it would have gone through either the front side or back side window.
Lucky escape I reackon.
I have to pay the first £75 on my insurance. Do I have any claim against the council?

Not worth claiming on insurance as you will only pay more next renewal.
Get a secondhand mirror off auction site.

Motability car, I have to go to approved repairer. Its part of contract.
I think electric wing mirrors are around £200 fitted anyway.
As you say I was very lucky.
