sky box hd + not updating help.

could somebody help me please my sky hd box. pace. was installed early may and sometimes got slower and slower, until it said no sat signal. so i switched off from mains, powered up and it started working again. this happened again today so i followed the same proceedure, however this time it just keeps repeating the message software updating, but nothing is happening. i have just spent a very frustrating hour with sky. who basicaly have no idea. is ther somebody who has come across this problem ans solved it? cheers chippy.

You could try a manual update.

Unplug the box from the mains for about 2 min, plug the box back in.
Now hold down back up buttom on front of the box as it is plugged back in.
When download message appears on screen, let go of back up button.
Update may take a little time.

thanks for reply giga, i am not switching off whilst updating. and because cards are paired i cant even use my old sky+ box.

I'm affraid you have to contact your dealer for a solution. Seems to be a possible problem with an EPG software upgrade since june? Could not find anything in the manual to recover from this!

giga thank you very much for your efforts, its much appreciated. an engineer is coming between 8 and 1 on sunday after i gauranteed a parking space for him. bloody sky.

The new guide mucked up my Thomson hd box and I fitted a new power supply purchased on xbay.Worked ok since.

thanks again for help guys, i think the the problem was with the epg. it wouldnt stop trying to update itself. so i switched the box off, unplugged and left for a couple of hours. i then switched back on and it worked. i have no idea why. it seems that just by leaving for a long time seems to have cleared the pipes,or whatever it is that is inside them. cheers chippy
