    HDD confusion

Today I connected my spare 400GB HDD and formatted it via the AzBox HD and it is now showing me as 38mins available for HD recording and 192mins for SD recording...

When I tried to record a HD movie there was a message on the screen "insufficient space" or something like that...

I got a 1TB HDD in my Sly HD box and it takes about 2% space for one HD movie...

Is this a bug in the AzBox firmware or ....?

How many recordings do you have?

I think there is a limit at the moment until bug fixed.

    Hello,

which Azbox have you? Elite / Premium?
    HDD internal or external?

    Which firmware are you using?

Seems strange the expected recording time shown.

Looks like your HDD is not properly formatted and that the link to the folder are not properly done, so I guess that they still point to the internal DOM or to a USB device attached to your Azbox.

My advice, ensure that you use the latest firmware, do a reset to factory default setting, format the HDD (if I remember well the Azbox automatically reboot at the end of the format) then reconfigure everything and test again.

Otherwhise ensure that there is no other partition on your HDD and delete all the partitions to be sure to get the whole disk.

My Tip, DONT USE AZHD FOR FORMATING!

The Firmware is not good for this with some HDDs, its stopping after XX% or wrong formating.

Take the freeware gparted, you can download a boot disk.
Format with this on ext3 and all will running fine.

The strange thing is it didn't allow me to do timeshift when the drive was formatted as FAT32 so I used AzBox to format it again...

And it took about 30mins to complete the formatting and showed up as ext3 something...

And it also showed at some 44GB in use... which was weird...

Same thing after 1 recording although I deleted it all it still say no enough space. Very disappointing. It is sold as PVR yet recording does not work and we have passed the time supposed to be the time of first non-beta release. Great, Is not it?

    Hello,

Some HDD are not properly recognise by the Azbox and so not properly formatted. So give a try to the gparted tools to format it.

Once your HDD will be properly formatted in ext3 it will work normally.

Ok sorry I tought it was you...

So first of all Delete some unneeded records in your recorded program list.

Then connect to your Azbox via telnet.

    Code:
cd /DATA/hdb1/recordfile [For the internal HDD of Premium, for Elite I guess it is under usb1 or usb2 /sda1]
    ls
Then you will see that the Azbox delete the .idx file but not the .ts file!
So you need to delete all the .ts file that no longer have a .idx file with the same name.

    Code:
    rm filename_to_delete.ts
Once you will have done this manual clean-up you will be able to record new programs.

    Question

I have Ubuntu 9.04 on another partition - never used for partitioning. Any issues with that, if I try - anyone?

I tried to transfer media to my Azbox Elite HDD but the process never completes, always disconnects during transferring files. Is there a program which you advice me to use?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    I am using FileZilla Client:

    Code:
    http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client
It has a auto-reconnect / restart feature so you can even reboot your Azbox while transfering and it will see that the connection is dropped and restart the file transfer.
